Shared with Bartzilla, Naven, BikesandBeer and others. Everyone agreed this was pretty damn amazing, really tasty beer perfect type of beer to receive this kind of aging. Taste was big and sweet and held the character of the brandy nicely. Overall a fantastic beer which makes me want to see more of what Tyranena can do. argo0 (6939), Washington DC, USA

Poured a medium brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of oak, vanilla, brandy, caramel, and cherries. Tastes of oak, brandy, vanilla, cherries, caramel, and brown sugar. The barrel aging was done nicely - it was not overpowering and added to both the aromas and flavors. bleeng (598), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA

Brandy assaults your taste buds on the first taste but then the chocolate and burnt malts follow through. Sweet, sugary, unique beer. WIsh I had few more for the cellar. I can only drink one of these in a session. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 17, 2007 It’s technically brown, but damn if any light is going to make it through that darkness. No head. Strong aroma of sweet grains, sugar and molasses. Really different taste that blends cherry, caramel, brown sugar, walnut and chocolate. The oak is there, but definitely subdued. I can barely tell that it was a brandy barrel, but that’s probably where the cherry/grape flavor is coming from. Very nicely done. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 17, 2007 Updated: Jul 10, 20096/17/2007: Tyranena High-Class Broad is an Imperial Brown Ale aged in brandy barrels. It pours a dark, pecan brown color and has a quickly diminishing tan head. Yep, there is definitely brandy in the aroma as well as some oak, vanilla, caramelized malt, and alcohol. At first the flavor is like a nice brown ale: caramel malts and a hint of chocolate. Then it becomes sweeter and moves toward caramelized malt and some fruitiness. There is a hefty dose of brandy and alcohol before and throughout the dry finish. There is also some oak and vanilla present in the finish. This bad boy packs some heat, but really the alcohol is mostly blended in with the other flavors. My wife got a contact buzz from just smelling it and I think that she might have been tipsy after just one drink! As the beer warms, the flavors meld a bit more and the alcohol isn’t quite as sharp in the flavor. The maltiness seems to deepen with more caramel and some chocolate notes as well as some dark, aged fruits (like good fruitcake) and a hint of char. Very good! This beer has a medium to medium-full body and is slightly sticky on the lips. I really like how Tyranena experiments with "lighter" beers in barrels such as this and their <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/tyranena-rockys- Revenge Bourbon Brown. However, what I particularly like about this beer is that they switched it up and used brandy barrels rather than "the usual" bourbon barrels. I love bourbon, but the brandy is a welcomed derivation and really lends itself nicely in the overall aroma, flavor, and experience of this beer. This is a wonderful beer to sit down with and enjoy slowly, sip by sip...

7/08/2009: Tyranena High-Class Broad Imperial Brown Ale is still just as good as I remember it! It is rich and sugary with hints of brandy, candied orange, cherry, and toasted wood/barrel in the aroma. The flavor is big and sweet with tons of great malt, brandy complexities and nuances, tanin subtleties, cherry, vanilla, and almond. It finishes with a wonderful vanilla sugar char (think crème brûlée!). This beer is thick, yet smooth and mellow with a medium-full to full body to it. What a lovely beer! Brown ale and brandy barrel aging go so well together; they complement each other nicely. This beer is just fantastic!

Aroma of brandy, nuts, sticky caramel malts, charred smoke, and vanilla. Taste of more chewy caramel malts, vanilla, smoke, brandy, vanilla, and light dried fruits, with a fair amount of alcohol in the finish.
