bottle. Pours a hazy red brown with a minimal tan head. Nose is a light cherry and wood. Hits hard with alcohol heat but leaves with layers of flavors. Cherry, brandy, vanilla, allspice, wood, more vanilla, oak. A parfait of malts and wood. Best by these guys I’ve had. I need to get by there more often.

bottle....appearance: poured dark-brown with medium, ivory colored head....aroma: lots of malt, caramel, and nuts with a slight hint of the oak/brandy.....taste: mostly dominated by by the brandy at first but then gives way to the sweet caramel malts. some vanilla thrown in there as well.....nice beer and is comparable to Founders Backwoods Bastard but not as good.

Bottle and served in a standard olde pint glass: A deep mahogany hue with an initial nice frothy head and above average lacing. The aroma has notes of smoke, wood and vanilla bean along with the typical roasted nutty and caramel malts, tobacco, leather, and some herbal hop. The flavor melts a bourbon characteristic in the fold of a good brown ale. While the boozy overtone is dominate there is still room for sweet malts and walnuts to shine through. I get a hint of raisin and prune as well on the palate which like many barrel aged beer is a bit thinned out but the mouth feel is highly aggressive and biting which a warming finish. Not as dry as many barrel aged beer which is okay within this genre. I solid offering and beergeek approved. THX to both who gave me a bottle.

Thanks goes to pantanap for trading this one. Hazy red/copper with a small head. Aroma is sweet brandy, caramel, roasted nuts and oak. Tasted brandy foremost, settling out to a nice nutty/fruity flavor with some tart overtones. A little warm, but very nice.

On Tap at brewery. Dark golden amber color. Smell of malt, hops, brandy, alcohol, butterscotch, caramel, and hints of oak and toffee. As it warmed, friut is also present in the smell. Taste of brandy, malt, minor hops, alcohol, little oak, caramel, grapes, brown sugar and a touch of bread and chocolate. Very different but very enjoyable. I only had one beer at the brewery and this one was plenty. Warmed me up fast.

Bottle... Dark, mostly clear, ruby ale with an orange tint and a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. Vinous, malty nose with a shot of caramel and a nutty, chocolate whisper. The flavor is earthy, vinous and malty with a flurry of dark raisins and caramel with very light chocolate and cola. Balanced nicely, but still leans toward the sweet side. Full-bodied and velvety with ticklish carbonation. Medium sweet, medium bitter, Novocain-like, tongue numbing finish. Kudos to 1FastSTi for shipping this bottle to me!

Bottle. Pours a medium bodied, dark amber color with a decent sized off white head. Aroma of brandy, oak, malt and toffee. Taste is similiar to a liquer with the alcohol being right up front but still very mellow. The flavor is somewhat smokey and nutty. This is a nice, complex easy to drink brew. Not sure what the abv is but it has to be in double digits. This stuff packs a bit of a kick.

12 oz bottle. Aroma at first says this is a high octane sweet brandy. Has wood and nut aromas as well. Brown body with tan head. Sweet caramel flavor is most noticable. Flavors of brandy than beer, nutty, wood, tobacco also present. Full body brew that warms the body. Leaves a wood and leaf tobacco juice aftertaste on palate. Thanks to the beer hunting wife for this one.
