Pours a clear pale copper amber color with some dark golden orange hues when held to a light source and a one finger off-white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring.
Sweet citrus hop aroma with a lot of dank oily floral hops. I’m not sure when this one was brewed but it smells incredibly fresh. Hints of orange and lemon peel as well as some dry earthy pine. Slight caramel backbone which is kind of toasty with hints of biscuit and graham cracker. Very subtle alcohol.
Very fresh with a lot of dank resinous dry floral hops. Slightly creamy mouthfeel with a good bit of graham cracker and caramel biscuity malt but the flavor here is dominated by dry piny hops. Lots of citrus flavor, especially lemon/orange peel and grapefruit. Slight alcohol warmth toward the end of the swallow and in the finish but overall the ABV is well masked. This beer is dangerously drinkable with plenty of awesome dry hoppy flavor. Man, I wish that they brewed this all of the time and that I had better access to this brewery.
monkeychugg55 (213), Joliet, Illinois, USA Oct 26, 2009 Pours a clear copper-amber with a rather large, frothy, foamy, soapy, beige head. Leaves beautiful thick rings of lacing. Pungent aroma of earthy, floral, almost musty hops, with plenty of pine and citrus too. Some sweet, barley wine-esque malt is also detectable. The flavor is, at first, sweet and malty, with toffee and caramel. Then a blast of alphas and hop flavors take charge, nice peppery pine-citrus mix with what seems like added spices. Slightly oily with a medium body and light carbonation. Another impressive treat from Tyranena. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 26, 2009 Bottle shared by byaeger on BA. Thanks, Brian! Pours a clear copper color with a creamy off white head and good lacing. Great aroma with lots of sweet caramel along with piney, citrusy hops. Flavor is toffee and caramel providing a sweet malty backbone. This is a DIPA in the east coast style, and despite living on the west coast now, I like that. Blasphemous, I know. In addition to the malt, this beer has lots of citrus and pine hops as well as some resin. Palate is smooth and medium-bodied with some hoppy resins. Overall very good. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Oct 19, 2009 hazy orange color, medium off white head, nice lace. nose of sweet malt and pine hops. flavor is a sweet malt backbone, with lots of pine and citrus hops. medium bodied, long lasting citric and pine hop finish. gimme more. i liked this. DalzAle (474), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Oct 18, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown/pumpkin colored pour, minimal carbonation and a great but not overpowering hops aroma. Flavor is velvety hops, flowers and maybe a little vanilla on the finish. Very good all around, only thing that would make this better is if I could get in 6 packs instead of 4! guerinfbfan (32), Elmwood Park, Illinois, USA Oct 9, 2009 Pours a nice amber with a very thin beige head. Smells of malts, pine, and citrus. You get a large mouthful of citrus and pine, along with some caramel and oranges. This is one very good DIPA. Will definitely try this one again. ChazMania (408), Pasadena, California, USA Oct 8, 2009 My 400th rating! Small pour from a bottle during a tasting of midwest IPA’s. This was the winner of the night. Huge nose, resins, caramels, malts, fruits, just delicious. Great finish coating my tongue and hammering my taste buds with bitter hoppy wonderment. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2009 Bottle with thanks to DrnkMcDermott. Pours a hazy brownish copper with about a finger of thick suds. Nose is dominated by thick pine and resin aromas with a bit of a toffee/caramel malt sweetness. Flavor is pretty good... lots of pine and resin cover a malty sweet base of caramel and brown sugar. This is a little stickier than I like in an IIPA and it keeps it from letting the hops truly shine. Even with that said, it is still darn good stuff and I wouldn’t mind if the brewer up the road made this instead of their "IIPA."
