| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 1/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2008 The appearance of this beer is not entirely appetizing. While it is a wonderful copper red color, there are some little chunkies floating and the head is somewhat soapy. The nose is great, though. A strong fruity hop aroma, peaches and some grapes.
Quick sharp hop bitterness, a little fruity and a little sweet. Notes of hop spiciness, reminiscent of cilantro. While it is pretty bitter, this fades and it lingers balanced. Very drinkable. alassio (19), USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 22, 2008 I’ve got Ruination, Arrogant Bastard oaked, DFH 60-Minute, last years SN Celebration, Bells Hopslam, and Victory Hop Wallop (among others) in the fridge right now, but when I get home at the end of a long working day THIS is the substance I crave, and I want one that is NOT in the fridge - - but at room temperature. Deep rich, but bright and enchanting; fab powerful hops, but playful autumn leaf dappling. A little bit of sublime hop perfection in a wildly garish 12 oz. bottle. What a whore. zeke626 (302), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Bottle, pours a deep amber-orange body with rather small off-white head. Aroma is mainly citrus and pine hops with hints of orange, caramel malts, and grass. Flavor is well-balanced with caramel malts and grapefruit/citrus flavors predominating along with hints of pine and biscuit. Starts sweet on the palate and finishes bitter. Grapefruit aftertaste. Medium body with a slight stickiness. Solid beer. HonkeyBra (1352), Lemont, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Pours a deep amber with a bit of a head. Heavy citrus aroma with some must and biscuit malt. Bitter, tangy, citrus peel hops, pine hops, grapefruit hops at first, which mellow into some sweet caramel malt. Finish is long and bitter. For this one, you’ve got to like hops. Luckily, I do. Outstanding. Schultsc (483), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Clear, medium-dark red-amber with a thin, fine, light tan head. Very intriguing aroma of dry graininess, grass, some earthiness, stonefruit, and light orange (both flesh and peel). These elements combined seem to form a strange, appealing boxwood aroma. The flavor consists of grassy herbaceousness, soft lemon rind, tangerine, and pine needles along with some maltiness which is very well integrated into a full bitterness profile that’s strong and graceful. The malt and alcohol characteristics are fully balanced. This is not "fresh" tasting--that is not to say that the beer itself doesn’t taste fresh or does taste old. The whole profile is on the dried/herbaceous end and is both unique and highly enjoyable. Interesting stuff. Sparky27 (1596), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Bottle courtesy of kmeves. Pours a deep clear amber with one finger white head that fades to a soap scum fast. Nice, delicate lacing on the glass. Nose is floral hops and sweet citrus with tangerines and oranges dominant. Taste is sweet caramel upfront but the sweet citrus in the aroma becomes pink grapefruit in the flavor and it’s followed by a fairly long lasting resin aftertaste. Medium mouth feel and sticky on the lips. Not as harsh as some IIPAs. Nice and hoppy but balanced - this is really good stuff. Thanks Kevin! NobleSquirrel (1115), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Bottle from Discount. Pours a very clear deep red with dissipating head. Nose is dank with the smell of marijuana, citrus and resin. I’m guessing some Amarillo and Simcoe, but you never know. Very big mouthfeel with tons of flavor. Nice and bold bitterness, resiny and puckering with grapefruit. Finishes dry and bready, minimal residual sweetness. Damn, this is a nice IIPA, and I thought double Simcoe was good. Awesome. jbuzz (661), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
