Pretty nice lacing on the glass. Smells of some grapefruit citrus hops, with a profound cinnamon caramel spice to it as well which I thought was highly interesting. I really dug the nose here. The flavor was big on the hops as expected, but also had a huge malt character that made it fairly sweet, with doses of cinnamon and caramel hitting you up, just as the nose suggested. very different double IPA for me, and was refreshingly interesting. Liked it. Marsiblursi (1644), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 16, 2008 (Bottle, thanks to Puddintane and his lackeys) Pours deep hazy copper amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is medium to heavily hoppy with tones of perfume, roses, oregano/dried herbs, grapefruit, wood, resin, apricot and light pine. Medium to heavily malty with tones of toast, caramel, cookies and some toffee. Notes of fruits like mango, pineapple and mild strawberry jam. Some alcohol warmth. Hints of cinnamon buns, rose hip and dew. The flavour is well balanced with a clean, easygoing maltiness of toast and caramel, citric/grapefruit and resiny/woody hops. Undertones of dried bitter herbs, floral hints and a light touch fruits. The mouthfeel is clean, light juicy, light tart and fairly soft. Medium sweet and medium to heavily bitter with a dry finish. Medium bodied.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 12, 2008 Glowing orange coloration, quite opaque, smallish creamy white head.
Aroma screams of hops, pungent pine, deep dark fruit, tropical fruit, pineapple, mango, banana, grapefruit, Delectable. Major malt is felt, as well, and it puts me in mind of a barleywine. Major alcohol smell.
Incredibly intense impression in the mouth. Huge hop blast, brilliant bitterness riding the tongue. Ripe fruit burst everywhere along the palate. Just delicious. And, although insanely bitter and hoptastic, it’s remarkably easy to drink. Or maybe I’m just inured to the hops. That’s probably it.
Full bodied, eternal finish. Not much going on in the malt department, not much you can taste, anyhow. Bitterness persists and rings fresh with every swallow.
Really tasty. My kind of Double IPA. Yum, yum. Taverner (842), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 11, 2008 Pours a deep orange copperish color with minimal yellow head. Nose is all malt, and there isn’t a very large hop profile. There are some bittering hops, and I think the florals might have either faded or just aren’t here. There is some balance, but it’s not the greatest. DrnkMcDermott (1848), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 9, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Geez, I’ve given or traded away almost my whole stash. Better try one for myself! Deep orange-copper color. I poured the whole bottle and see lots of floatie bits. Thin but viscous looking head. Smell has a lot of pine resin mixed with grapefruit and pineapple juices. Taste has some big malts, needed to keep all this hoppiness balanced. More resins from hops in the palate. I’d expect this is what the resin that collects at the end of a cut pine board would taste like. Almost a honey quality to it. mkgrenwel (420), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 6, 2008 Bottle courtesy Tytoanderso. Flavor is a bit thick on the malt. Not quite heavy enough to take the hops into pine territory, but they are resiny and sweet. Orange but none of the grapefruit from the aroma really. A bit of pithy citrus rind in the bitterness in the back. bitterness is pretty mild, however, and balanced by the malt. Nice and tasty, but doesn’t live up to the aroma or do anything new. Just another pretty good IIPA.

Pours is hazy and copper with fluffy and thick; off-white head. Beautiful honeycomb esque lacing. Lots of floral notes on the nose, similar to a fresh bouquet of hops. Full mouth-feel. Well balanced bittersweet flavor.
