Flavor is just one big hop rag, sopping. Palate is good, slick and just wringingly bitter. Overall, damn yummy. Thanks Facto!! tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, Harry’s bottle. Super hoppy aroma - very pungent and perfumy and oily. Dark copper, small white head. Great taste - hop overload! No alcohol really present - just an intense and insanely drinkable hop injection. Loved it! HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, my botle via trade with Oakbluff. Cloudy amber-orange, small frothy off-white head. Mostly hops aroma - leafy, perfumey and pungent pine sap and citrus/resin. Taste - pretty much the same, really bitter and long, hard to gauge the ABV, enough light roast malt to keep it from being totally over the top. Average body, tons of astringency, long, long resin/bitter finish. Great stuff. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2008 12oz bottle from Riley’s in Madison. Pours a rusty red color which is not what I was expected but which tips me off about this one. Crystal malt in a DIPA? Maybe it’s not crystal but it tastes like it, and my first thought on the nose is that it’s full of cedar and caramel notes like many imperial red strong ales. Still, it’s a decent smelling beer, with the aforementioned cedar hop notes, a bit of honey, and a bit of pine. Less of a juicy DIPA and more of a woody, almost nutty DIPA. The freshness may be a little low due to the age, but it still tastes properly juicy, slightly dank, and full of the cedar and caramel malt flavors. A good one. piscator34 (1134), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle sample shared with oakbluff. Light amber in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, mango, with some caramel and pine. In the mouth it strikes a nice balance between the crusty bread malt flavors and the strong c-hop notes. Some grassy and resin notes too. Solid bitterness. Good stuff! bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Bottle, courtesy after4ever. This is the last of the missing notes, or at least the last one I know about right now. Pours a clear dark copper with a lacy white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine resin. Starts with lightly sweet citrus and fruit, but then the hugely bitter grapefruit zest finish kicks in with, (strangely enough,) some serious floral aspects. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Bottle: Pours a dark caramel color with a finger of thick, creamy sandy head. Aroma is heavier in the maltiness, brown sugar, hints of florals, and citrus. Tastes ripe with floral and piney hops, resiny, dark roasted malt, and bit of sweet again, and some toffee. Good, diverse amount of flavors, but it was more of a hop tease than hop whore. Still, quite tasty. Thanks Footbalm. BrockLanders (751), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 26, 2007 bottle. Translucent amber pour...small whitish head. Nice aroma...blend of sweetish malt plus a big hoppy edge. Grassy, grapefruity.....nice alcohol tinge in the flavor. Finish is bitter but not overly so...fuller bodied than expected....great brew.
