| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 2, 2007 thanks cmubeerman. smell from the bottle is great. it actually takes me back to the floyds days of yore. huge hops, but sweet malts actually dominating the aroma. actually approaches a barleywine in the malt aroma. probably the most appetizing aroma i’ve found in a DIPA in many months. the hopslam smelled great, but this one really makes me want to taste it. look is a strongly red brown. reasonably opaque with nice bubbles and head. the flavor is a little bit thin from what you’d expect. i was expecting something along the lines of a titan or hercules, but this is less pronounced with most of the flavor back-ended. i’m having a problem now where this is not what i was expecting, but i’ve also grown tired of DIPA’s and this is probably the solution i’ve been looking for. It has no front end. after the swallow, there is a lull as well, followed by a bittering hop flavor. the finish is very brief as well. after a while, i’m thinking that i haven’t had dreadnaught in years, but this probably suits my palate better (as far as DIPA’s) than any other iipa in a very long time.... my god this is good. i took a little while off to get some perspective and i still really love this beer. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 27, 2007 Pours a dark golden amber color with a slight head.
Smell is not overly hoppy. In correspondance with the name "Hop Whore" this beer does have a cheap, perfumey, floral scent.
Taste is very flowery as well. This isn’t a hop-bomb. It’s very balanced and isn’t very hoppy.
The mouthfeel comes across more bitter than the hop presence would suggest.
This beer is thin and smooth enough to make it highly sessionable. I could see myself knocking down several of these on a summer evening. Not close to the best DIPA I’ve had. But not horrible either. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Bottle from captain cougar, thanks! At first sip this didnt seem all that impressive but it got better and better with each sip. The aroma was very hoppy, not so much of the typical citrus hops earthy but more of a piney resiny flavor. Flavor was realy oily hoppy. This had a pretty good bitterness and body to it. Pretty good and a little different. jsquire (2113), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 22, 2007 Beautiful deep amber color with a short lived creamy beige head. The aroma on this is incredibly fresh. Like fresh hop cones growing in a pine forest. Very sharp flavors of hop resin, pine, pineapple and sweet red grapefruit. There is a shortbread and caramel foundation under all the hops. This is hot on the tongue, but feels just right. This is definitely a hop head beer. Thanks to JCapriotti for the bottle. elektronikfagtekniker (892), kbh, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Bottle from Ughsmash - burnished copper pour, with a soapy white head - inviting, yet stereotypical IIPA aroma of piney hops and sticky sweet malts, failing to make any distinct, lasting impression - medum-bodied, and somewhat thin on the back end, making it seem much more like a "regular" IPA - assertive bitterness and spicy hops, with a small-ish malt backbone, making this a bit drier than a lot of specimens in this style (which earns it points in my book) - but there’s not a lot going on here that hasn’t been done by lots of other brewers (and done better) - light fruity esters (cherry mostly) make things a little interesting - well-executed - I’m enjoying it, but still finding it quite easy to forget. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Crystal clear, dark orange/red body. The head is slightly soapy. I’m a bit biased, since I really like my big beers unfiltered if possible, but anyway, this is a rant...The aroma is "funky" with some metallic notes mixed in with the floral hops. Strongly hoppy flavor that is not overpowered by sweetness. In fact, this is one of the drier IIPAs I’ve had in awhile. I quite like that, the brutal bitterness. jason (1623), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 10, 2007 Bottle thanks to Sliffy. Poured a hazy pale amber color with a decent size head. Aroma is of hops, lots of hops. Grapefruit, citrus. Flavor mimics the aroma. Slightly bitter, sweet. The grapefruit come out near the end. Great palate.
