| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2009 Tap @ The Malt House - Amber pour with a small white head. Nose is huge floral hops, all fresh and perfumey. I’m sure there’s some malt in there, but you sure can’t smell it. I’m kind of surprised at all the reviews that talk about the wonderful balance of this beer. I didn’t get it. To me it was very one-note--sweet, with a hop assault on the tongue. It’s a wonderful piney, grassy hop bite, and what do you expect--this is called Hop Whore, after all. Coats the mouth with a pleasant resiny syrup. Very fine when you’re in the mood for a DIPA, but just didn’t get the balance that everyone is raving about. msante79 (841), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2009 Updated: Oct 9, 200912oz bottle from Binny’s Orland Park. Pours clear rusty amber with small white head. Aroma is very citrusy with some light fruit, caramel, and some malt. Flavor is rather malty with caramel and citrus and underlying hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is full and has good carbonation. Much more malt than I was expecting. While there is a lot malt it is not sweet and cloying like a lot of IIPA’s can be. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2009 Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours a beautiful reddish copper with a decent off-white head. Aroma is huge citrus hop, backed by a rather roasted malt. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is lots of floral and citrus hop with a roast caramel that is pretty impressive - holding off all that hop. Finishes really nice: sweet on the edges but bitter in the middle. Finishes with lots of florality. Delicious. nuplastikk (1217), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Draft at the OF. Orange-brown color, looks filtered. Minimal patchy head. Solid citrusy bitterness, quite nice. Not unlike "Scurvy" hopwise, but way more underlying malt depth. A nice balance. Remains drinkable, not as overwhelming as some IIPAs. Relatively mellow aroma, some mild subdued bitterness. Thick malt centered IIPA, pretty good. drewbeerme (2305), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2009 a fresh 12oz bottle. I know i rated this before so I guess it got deleted, makes me wonder if there are other ratings that were deleted. this pours slightly hazy but glowing orange and red with a white head. the aroma has some sweet caramel and alcohol with perfume, juicy fruit, and some piney hops too. flavor is rather perfumy with piney and orange citrus hop notes while a sweet caramel malt backbone and hop bitterness linger on the palate. med body and sticky mouth feel. alcohol tends to overwhelm the flavor and the aroma isn’t in the league of the really good iipa but it’s still pretty tasty. shawnm213 (985), South Bend, Indiana, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 4, 2009 12 oz. bottle at Lunar Brewing Co. Poured to a Czech pils glass, a clear copper color with a light tan, frothy head and tight curtains of clingy lacing. The aroma was bright, citrusy grapefruit, a bit of resin, and mid-fruit sweetness. The flavor was the aroma notes, big malt, and sharp but rounded, tongue coating, hop bitterness. Full bodied and rich. An excellent "Brewers Gone Wild" DIPA from Rob and the crew. GandGKevin (195), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
