Meant as the next step up Bitter Woman from Hell. Darker color and a far more aggressive hop character to it. More hops is fine, but not when the malt can’t blanace it out. The hop profile just leaves a sharp character to the overall quality of the beer. I can appreciate a good IIPA, but not an obvious attempt to toss in large amounts of bittering hops for hops sake. Thinner than expected, overly sharp and uninspiring hop profile and weak malt character. Maybe I had a poor bottle and I will have to re-rate at some point. Other than that, way over-hyped in my opinion.

Bottle from Holdenn, as an extra. Pretty typical IIPA aroma, not overly assertive, piney, with a solid malt backbone. Reminiscent of Stoudts IIPA methinks. Decent dark orange pour with a small lacing head. Aroma is malt forward initially, settling into a bitter, dry dry pumelo taste. Little complexity evident, but quite drinkable.

Aroma opens up intensely with grapefruit and other penetrating citrus aromas. Less piny. Caramel flavors are the first I detect, but that’sm quickly trumped by the citrus grapefruit bitterness of the hops. Finishes bitter (duh) and drier than I expected. Flavors are well blended. Great hops all over the place, with the malt as an afterthough. Unfortunately, I demind a slight bit more malt flavors, even in IIPAs.

Dark amber color with a very thin white cream. Some lacing. Aroma is rich resiny hops. Flavor is resiny hops with a solid, rich malt backbone and a good touch of alcohol. Body is sticky and resiny. Nice but not something I can drink a lot of.

Medium sized tan head, excellent retention, creamy apearence with a coating lace that really lasts. Clear, deep copper colored ale, a real looker! Surprisingly mild hop nose, citrus, fruit, melons, lemon,a hint of bubble gum and honey though all were fairly subdued. Body is medium with a clean hop resiny palate. Good hop flavors, grapefruit, pine, lightly floral and a hint metallic with some earthy notes as well. Mildly sweet maltiness showing up in the background. Big, hoppy, biting finish Very nice, just short of exceptional. Thanks to Ohiodad for the trade!

Clear copper with slight off-white head. Nose is floral and citrusy, full of grapefruit - awesome. Light mouthfeel. Taste is huge hop bitterness with nice grapefruit taste. A great IPA.

12 oz bottle thanks to my secret santa! the bottle exudes a mixture of english and west-coast hops, and an aroma of pale and crystal malts struggle their way through the hops. beautiful lacing and carbonation (light bubbles) and a slightly paler-than-amber body. bitter but not caustic, malty but nowhere near sweet. it’s balanced, almost too balanced, nothing really leaps out except that it’s a big beer. enjoyable, and really drinkable for a big IPA.

Aroma is as good as it gets--tons of great citrus hops---love it! Cloud copper color with little head. The palate is medium to full with perfect carbonation. Very bitter hop bite right up front and again in the end. Nutty in the middle with a great malt backbone. Excellent brew.
