Commercial Description:
Next Brewers Gone Wild! Beer: Paradise By The Dash Board Lights - A Doubly Blessed Cherry Porter. Yes, another variation of an Imperial Porter. This one was inspired by a Cherry Stout brewed by Fitger’s that we tasted at the Autumn Brew Review in St. Paul... although I now have no recollection of how it actually tasted. Paradise By The Dash Board Lights was brewed with our "base" Imperial Porter recipe with the addition of 840 pounds of tart cherry puree. I think it has a nice tartness... and a nice level of cherry flavor. Everything changes after the yeast drops out, we filter the beer, and also once carbonated.

12 oz bottle from Discount Liquors (Milwaukee, WI). Pours a black opaque pour with ruby edges, big light brown head that dissipates to a moderate amount. Very nice looking, laces decent. Aromas push some nice cherry, not necessarily totally tart, but genuine, with dark roasted malts with some of the edge taken off by chocolate and cream. Initial is s little lighter in body than expected, pushing more cherry than roast. A little too sweet on the cherry for me, as the beer works a strange sugary mellow cherry sweetness up front with light chocolate, moving back in the body to the roast, slight coffee, and bitterness. A bit of cherry and chocolate stick to the aftertaste with light roast. Light bitterness on the finish. Ok, but thrown off by the initial sweetness. I like my cherries in roasted malt brews to be tart. I’m a total sucker for it. This was not what I was expecting.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of dank fruit and roasted malt. Flavor is some roastiness up front but everything is cut out by astringent bitter fruit. Not in a harmonious fashion. I like fruit in beer that is more tart but this just does not play well with the malt in this case. They kind of clash and burn. Drinkable but not what I think it could be. Thanks for the bottle Bill.

This beer is great - as are all the Brewers Gone Wild beers from Tyranena I’ve had. A good porter with just a touch of cherry. Body is relatively thin, with a medium amount of head and a dark body. Aroma is lightly sweet like a porter or milk stout. Flavor is a touch cereal-y, very malty, and just barely perceptibly fruity. The beer also offers up some mild coffee/chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. But I really like this beer - the fruitiness is muted and not overpowering, and for a beer of this style, it is quite drinkable. I bought a 4-pack at Ridgeville Liquor in Green Bay to bring back to Ohio in my wooden leg.

[Bottle] Pours almost black with a small tan head. Aroma is surprisingly lacking in cherry, but is decent nonetheless. Lots of bittersweet chocolate and roasted coffee notes. Flavor is mostly roasted and chocolate flavors, with a hint of tart cherries on the midpalate, and a lingering acrid coffee grounds and cherry tartness on the finish.

Bottle thanks to CMUBEERMAN! Pours opaque black brown ruby, thin tan head. Aroma is smoke, molasses, dried fruit, malt. Flavor is smoky and fruity, pine, molasses, charcoal, anise: oily mouth feel. I can taste a little bit of cherry tartness, but it is not overpowering nor unbalanced. Interesting strong porter. Wait, have I had a strong porter before?!!!

Pours nearly black with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, a little coffee, and possibly a small amount of cherry that is hard to detect. Flavor is dominated by chocolate up front with little bit of tartness at the finish. I’m not too sure if it tastes like cherries per se. This is somewhat enjoyable, but I have come to expect more from the Brewer’s Gone Wild series.

Another interesting change of pace but gets tiring. Cherry flavor is about right intensity and stays through to after taste.
