Commercial Description:
Next Brewers Gone Wild! Beer: Paradise By The Dash Board Lights - A Doubly Blessed Cherry Porter. Yes, another variation of an Imperial Porter. This one was inspired by a Cherry Stout brewed by Fitger’s that we tasted at the Autumn Brew Review in St. Paul... although I now have no recollection of how it actually tasted. Paradise By The Dash Board Lights was brewed with our "base" Imperial Porter recipe with the addition of 840 pounds of tart cherry puree. I think it has a nice tartness... and a nice level of cherry flavor. Everything changes after the yeast drops out, we filter the beer, and also once carbonated.

Bottle - Pours deep black with a big frothy cocoa-colored head. The aroma is so-so--a mix of roasty malts, caramel, and faint coffee. I expected a lot of cherry on the first sip, but surprisingly got none. Not until the beer warmed a bit did I start to taste the cherries on the finish. But the flavor doesn’t finish smoothly. Instead, it ends abruptly, overpowered by the bigger roasty and nutty flavors. There’s also a bit of a bitter taste in the background. Mouthfeel is nice, with a medium body and pleasant, tingling carbonation. A beer that looks better than it tastes, but solid nonetheless.

Pours an opaque espresso, nut brown with thin tan colored head. Aroma is largely malts and cacao. Flavors are malts, hazelnuts and cacao with just a tart twist where the cherry -i believe- is supposed to play a part. Other than that I do not detect very many, if any, cherry notes. Body is creamy with fair carbonation.

12oz bottle from tytoanderso - thanks, Tyler!!! Another lovely porter from the good folks at Tyranena. This one is a more straightforwardly roasted malts and chocolate affair, a rich and sessionable base beer with some very subtle cherry notes added. Indeed, subtlety seems to be a characteristic of the BGW series (the wildness of the nomenclature is in their range, if that makes sense). Sharp roasts lead off in the taste, with some mellower rich flavors emerging in the middle and the cherries bringing up the rear, a lovely tart note in the finish. Very appealing.

12oz bottle 3/8/09 (Discount Liquor)-Pours mostly black with a small tan head and an aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, and a small amount of cherry. Taste begins with nothing then all of a sudden all the flavors appear in your mouth. The chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and surprising very little cherry flavor. Not a bad thing but I will have to say this full bodied brew is a little bit mild for an imperial porter but once again another kick ass BGW from Tyranena. Great job.

Very dark amber color with a creamy tan head. Mild roasted aroma with a hint of dark chocolate. Very smokey taste with a slightly malty body, a trace of cherry and a mild tart finish.

Bottle shared by Daknole. Dark brown with very little head but nice color. Loads of dark malt, chicory, carob, dark chocolate cake, rich soils and minerals. Not smelling cherries. Nice smooth palate. The cherry really emerges in the flavors, integrated very well with the dark toasty malt. The flavors are layered with the cherries coming first and then lingering roasted malt wrapping it up. Really nice brew.

I expected more araoma from this, but othet than that, it was a smooth and lucious porter. I am liking this style the more I have of it.

Bottle in trade from abents. Thanks! Pours mostly black with a lasting beige, creamy head. Smell is cocoa, chocolate, coffee, and maybe a touch of tart fruitiness from the cherries. Taste is mild but chocolately and with some light coffee notes with a lightly tart, unsweetened cherry finish to it. Body is a bit thin for an Imperial beer, but it has a nicely creamy body and soft carbonation. Not quite as good as I hoped, but still very enjoyable.
