Commercial Description:
Next Brewers Gone Wild! Beer: Paradise By The Dash Board Lights - A Doubly Blessed Cherry Porter. Yes, another variation of an Imperial Porter. This one was inspired by a Cherry Stout brewed by Fitger’s that we tasted at the Autumn Brew Review in St. Paul... although I now have no recollection of how it actually tasted. Paradise By The Dash Board Lights was brewed with our "base" Imperial Porter recipe with the addition of 840 pounds of tart cherry puree. I think it has a nice tartness... and a nice level of cherry flavor. Everything changes after the yeast drops out, we filter the beer, and also once carbonated.

nose is mostly java with a subtle and bitter touch of cherry. apperanance is pitch black with filthy thin head. flavor is vastly of coffee with honestly very little cherry, if any. well developed roast dominates the flavor, this does not come across as having any kind of real fruit flavor. still a really solid porter however!

Thanks again to Terminus for sharing this one. Pours very dark with a tan / brown head that leaves pretty quick. The aroma has cream, roasty malt, char, ice cream malt and milk chocolate. Medium / full body with some harshness and light spritzy carbonation. The flavor starts with charred malt, hints of cherry, light sweetness, some woodiness and light cream. The finish is dry and charred to hell and last forever. A solid offering.

I wasn’t so keen on this. It sounds like a good concept, the cherry porter, but it didn’t really please me. The cherry is muted in the nose and the flavor, while possessing a lot of chocolate, has too much sourness without imparting a decent fruity kick. The late finish in particular really struck me of the chocolate-covered cherries you might expect from this combination, but it wasn’t wholly satisfying. Afterall, a lot of chocolate-covered cherries are quite cheap, both in chocolate and the gummy, artificial cherries. Anyway, in the end it wasn’t that enjoyable. Bottle.

Noogfest High 5. Sample from a bottle thanks to heemer77. Dark brown, light red hints, almost no light tan head lasts. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, roasted coffee beans. Taste is roasty, chocolate, coffee, no cherry.

Sampled at Noogfest High 5. Pours dark ruby black with thin beige head. The aroma is roasty coffee, slight cherry, dark chocolate, and a hint of smoke. The flavor is coffee, some fireplace, and a hint of iodine. The cherry is quite distant. Good enough, but not exactly what I was expecting.

This poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma contained some coffee, chocolate, caramel, and cherries. The flavor is on the sweet side with a hint of cherries (less than expected) coffee, milk chocolate. The finish is rather sweet. Another nice one from these guys! Overall I went ALL the way tonight, no need to sleep on it.

Pours dark, aroma of chocolate, cherry, and a touch of coffee. Good flavor, medium body. Nice cherry flavor, little tart.

Bottle from GAManiac. Thanks, Grant! I wanted this ’cause my wife loves the Meatloaf song of the same name; her and a good friend of hers even have a routine to the song. Nonetheless... Pours a beautiful, Guinness-like black with a faint head of off-white. Aroma is a blanket of melted chocolate powder with freshly ground coffee beans sprinkled within. Man, I’m really diggin’ this aroma; many beers claim to have coffee thrown in the mix but this stuff actually smells like a bag of fresh coffee grounds. Flavor is a rush of chocolate that is tempered by cinnamon-cherry coffee. No other way to describe it; it’s simple, yet very deep and rich. Average mouthfeel. Nice brew; I will definitely get more of this.
