Commercial Description:
Next Brewers Gone Wild! Beer: Paradise By The Dash Board Lights - A Doubly Blessed Cherry Porter. Yes, another variation of an Imperial Porter. This one was inspired by a Cherry Stout brewed by Fitger’s that we tasted at the Autumn Brew Review in St. Paul... although I now have no recollection of how it actually tasted. Paradise By The Dash Board Lights was brewed with our "base" Imperial Porter recipe with the addition of 840 pounds of tart cherry puree. I think it has a nice tartness... and a nice level of cherry flavor. Everything changes after the yeast drops out, we filter the beer, and also once carbonated.

From a 12oz Bottle. Very opaque, ruddy tannic colored body with a finger of fizzy tan foam. Aromas of roasted malt - mainly char, coffee, and suggestions of cherry pie. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft texture. Flavors of roast and cherry up front on the palate, followed by a dark chocolate bitterness. Lots of chocolate and roast, but only a glimpse of cherry. A little bit more would be nice, although I’d prefer this over a cherry bomb any day. Hints of charred prune and plum. Some pleasing light fruity esters linger in the finish. The flavors seem to disappear a bit mid-palate, leaving the flavor impression a little bit thin. Nothing wrong going on here, but also not enough to impress.

Appearance – Pours a very dark brown with very little head. After giving this a swirl in the delirium tremens snifter, a quarter finger light, creamy brown head appears but does not stick around for long. Smell – This has one of the best cherry smells I have smelled so far in my cherry infused beer journey. This has more of a sweet cherry smell rather than a tart smell, which is nice and inviting. This also has a strong chocolate note to it that wraps the cherry very well, JUST like a chocolate covered cherry. Some great roasted notes that comes with your porter are there as well. Taste – The cherries have become tart with no warning! They aren’t overpowering though, the roastiness is what consumes this beer. Has the tiniest bit of hop kick in the finish with some chocolate. Mouthfeel – This has a pretty light body to it for a stronger porter. The higher carbonation makes it pretty prickly in the mouth, probably made this feel a little lighter than it really is. Overall, it left me wanting. Drinkability – This tastes great, and the mouthfeel is something I can look past because of the flavor. Good thing I have 2 more!

Bottle. Pour was dark brown with a deep tan head. Aroma of chocolate, medium fresh cherries, and brown sugar. Body was a bit thin and dominating with cherries. Chocolate and light malt come out a bit in the finish. Pretty good brew but could use more body and balance.

thanks andrew. sorry, nick, i would have waited to have this with you but i needed a beer to celebrate my graduation with, and i didnt feel like having a whole dark lord alone. pours thin with a small 1/4 inch dark brown head with fine bubbles. pretty nice. smell is pretty much just chocolate and coffee. mocha. minimal cherry, wouldn’t have noticed it without the description. i think i’d prefer this at a cooler temperature, but my fridge only goes to 55 degrees F. it’s actually quite underwhelming. almost no cherry character at all, it’s all masked by the slightly chalky dry chocolate. a bit thin, and altogether lacking in flavor. fuck you, andrew.

Pours a lovely oily black with two fingers of tan head. The aroma is surprisingly lacking in Cherry. Loads of chocolate and roasted malt though. This is a pretty heavy beer with charred coffee and bitter chocolate notes dominating and just the faintest hint of tart cherry in the background. I would have loved more cherry here.

Bottle thanks to tytoanderso!
Dark purple-ish brown, barely a beige head. Nose has heavy, near-offensive burnt toast, some milk chocolate, cream, and minor fruit. Flavor is more balanced with roasted malt, chocolate, more fruit. Still not very impressive though, and the finish is rather empty. I was hoping for something more.

bottle by way of mr. noblesquirrel... pours dark and rich looking... porter brown with a soft, frothy and somewhat rocky tan head which leaves some moderate drippy lacing. the aroma is immediately of sour fruit (after the metallic smell disappears...) followed by the usual suspects... coffee, chocolate, toasty grain, a bit of cream, some wood, earthy/musty stink and a pleasant herbaceous-ness. the palate is odd... i guess i was expecting the cherries to be sweeter, perhaps become a nuance of a big chocolatey porter. instead, the cherry is sour... and there is a lot of it! flavors of coffee, toasted nuts, cinnamon-y spiciness, mild char, faint chocolate and a little vanilla before the tannic cherry skins take over and parch my mouth. the medium body feels prickly from carbonation and spicy hops. it is parchingly dry yet smooth and rich... neat, but i’ll take their regular porter over this any day... 7/4/7/4/15/3.7

Bottle shared by notalush. Deep brown beer. Aroma is quite chocolatey. Soft cocoa and a bit of light cherry. Sweet with a light tartness on the back. A touch of earthy chocolate roastiness. Soft and chewy with a nice sweetness up front and a soft lingering cherry flavour. Nice straightforward fruit beer.
