Commercial Description:
Next Brewers Gone Wild! Beer: Paradise By The Dash Board Lights - A Doubly Blessed Cherry Porter. Yes, another variation of an Imperial Porter. This one was inspired by a Cherry Stout brewed by Fitger’s that we tasted at the Autumn Brew Review in St. Paul... although I now have no recollection of how it actually tasted. Paradise By The Dash Board Lights was brewed with our "base" Imperial Porter recipe with the addition of 840 pounds of tart cherry puree. I think it has a nice tartness... and a nice level of cherry flavor. Everything changes after the yeast drops out, we filter the beer, and also once carbonated.

Pours to a viscous looking cola-like black body with a very thin ring of tan head. The aroma is deep milk chocolates with a light cherry and grainy brownie. Almost like it has a subtle smoked malt. The flavor is strongly malty. Like eating a barley infused chocolate brownie with very subtle cherry. The palate is rich and thick. Creamy. Too bad the rest of the beer isn’t as good as the mouthfeel.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black, pour with a medium size mocha head. Pretty mild aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor also dominated by roasted malt and a lot of chocolate with just a touch of cherry in the finish. Nice porter, just not the cherry presence I was expecting.

Black pour well laced tan head Light aroma typical porter chocolates hints of lactose and a little bit of burnt something in there. Light creamy well coated palate a bit thin for style though. Flavor had lots of cocoa tiny tiny hint of fruit wouldn’t pull cherry without the name a bit of dry wood notes Decent beer but nothing special.

2009 Bottle - Thanks motortoddhead! - Pours dark brown with s small tan head...aroma is cocoa, vanilla, lightly fruity, more cherries as it warms...flavour is interesting, starts off porter-like with a roasted grain and bitter, burnt wood, followed by some tart cherry astringeny...there is a lasting bitterness, but no real roasty malt component that would have rounded out the finish nicely...still a fun porter, not on the level as some of the other Tyranena BGW releases, but I didn’t find this to be overly sweet at all...quite enjoyable...

Black body with a light tan head. The aroma was cherries with some cola and chocolate. There was also some coffee. The taste was light with the cherries and some cola. This was woody with a strong roasted finish. Nicely made brew.

Deep ruby brown with a thin film of and off-white head. Aroma of cocoa, molasses and cherries. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and tart cherries. Finishes up with a dark sugar sweetness and a final hit of tart fruit.

Pour is dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma of vanilla, molasses, and cherry. Cherry is definitely noticed in the flavor, and takes the main stage. Although there is a burnt roast taste that I’ve found in many of the Tyranena stouts and porters. And frankly, I don’t care much for it. I like the cherry aspect of this brew, but the burnt roast taste does not exactly hit the spot. Not a beer I won’t drink, but I’m not going to seek this out either.
