Aroma of biscuits and toffee, some fruitiness, a bit of acidity, and some light grassy hops. Taste is very dry, with a bit of grassy hoppiness, some light fruit. I can’t taste bourbon exactly, but I do get the dryness that came from the aging, which overall I think added a bit of complexity to what would otherwise be another ho-hum brown ale. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2008 struck by the apparence the carb clings to the glass like a much lighter beer. cake batter butter and vanilla aroma with undertones of bourbon and malt. a bit more bitter in the finish than 30 ibus would suggest. its a bit thin but it has the batter rich flavor with malt and booz. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 1, 2008 Bottle poured to glass. No head from the start. Toffee and cherry like aroma with a cloudy brown brew. Slight acidic and bitter coffee like taste followed by a fairly dry finish, almost a slight burnt chalk taste. Not very impressed. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 29, 2008 Dark, dark carmel color. Sweet malt aroma. There is a flavor that is very distinct, that though it is the major flavor, is something I can’t place. It is something from a bakery, or a candy store, but not overly sweet. It is so cool to find a new flavor that does not seem to relate to anything that I need to try again just to see if I can’t identify further ( I am going to over-rate so I try again). Otherwise, this is a good tasting brown beer with a dry finish. nimbleprop (936), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Scored this in a trade with Scubarex. Many thanks! 12oz bottle pours a translucent, deep brown with a thin, lacing beige head. Aroma is very sweet and inviting, sugary with a cookie edge, nuts, caramel and vanilla. Flavor is even better with MORE cookie dough, vanilla and chewy caramel but also a kick of bourbon whiskey, molasses, toffee and nuts. Finish is slightly dry, but very easy going. Not your average brown ale, something quite a bit more complex in flavor and more enjoyable. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA
