Pours maroon to brownish with a malty browl ale like toasty, caramel, and vanilla malt. Taste is somewhat mild however, and while good, I got no indication of bourbon, but some tart, bitter brown ale like malt. Some bittering hops playing a part in the taste to balance. Drinkable, but not one of Tyranena’s better brews. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2008 bottle from bockyhorsey... hazy rich brown pour topped by a light khaki head with orange highlights. it leaves behind some nice clingy lacing as it retreats into the glass. aroma is mostly the inside of a bourbon barrel but not the bourbon, so much... wood, prepared sugar cane, grassiness, earth/carrot and something savory. the flavor is a watered down version of the aroma... too bad! caramel-y bourbon but not too sweet, wood and a grassy dryness on the finish which parches the mouth a bit. medium body and mouth feel. tastes a bit boring and one dimensional but it is quite a tasty sessionable brown. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Aroma is woody, booze, caramel, toffee and spice. Roasty malt flavor and somewhat dry. High carbonation. Medium to light body. Meh. MatSciGuy (635), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2008 [draft] Pours a deep brown with a small off white head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, and burnt caramel. Flavor is vanilla, caramel, and a little bit of bourbon. Overall one of the better BB beers I’ve tried because the bourbon doesn’t overpower the rest of the brew. Great session beer. Metalhead (571), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 4, 2008 IMO this is an over rated beer. Nothing more than a very slightly above avg. brown ale that had some oak and a shot of cheap bourbon tossed in. Inexpensive so still worth a try. Beerlando (2332), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Pours a dark but translucent reddish-brown. A foamy, cream colored head settles to a wispy film with a prominent edge. Nice patterns of spotty and ribbony lace decorate the glass. Aromas include deeply toasted caramel malts, roasted barley, and wheat, with a touch of cola and molasses sweetness. Bourbon is not detectable on the nose. Flavors start out with sweet, dark caramel, but quickly shift to a grainy, toasty profile. Cola flavors emerge, along with a very faint touch of sour mash bourbon. The mouthfeel is substantial and moderately carbonated, lending smooth drinkability. This is a solid brown ale. I could easily knock a few of these back. MaltOne (61), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2008 This has a lot going on. Aroma isn’t one of the things - not much aroma. Pretty mahogany brown with pale, brief head. Flavor is were it’s at - slightly sweet at first, with a bitter middle and a balanced sweet/bitter finish. Flavors of vanilla, roasted coffee, bourbon barrels, faint chocolate. Palate is light and more hoppy, then other flavors. A bigger beer then one might expect for the money. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
