Deep amber to brown in color. Aromas of smooth bourbon, chocolate, charred wood and caramel. The palate is smooth but lacks concentration in the midpalate. Nice beer overall but rather unexciting.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown/amber with a small light tan head that fades leaving some lacing. Aroma of bourbon, caramel, and a hint of roasted malt. Taste is light roasted malt, caramel, and a hint of bourbon. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and soft carbonation. Very good.

12oz bottle. Sweet aroma like a nutmeg or cinnamon, not too strong. 1/2 inch medium brown head slowly fades. Medium body, somewhat dry and a mild bitter finish. A little sour, a decent beer, better than I had expected.

Bought this from bockyhorsey. Pours a dense, hazed brown color with a decent two finger head that lingers. Aromas of aged English malts. Full nectar with a soft and creamy mouthfeel. Dry with aged citrus, caramel, chocolate dust and defined whiskey. The finish is long and malty with mildly roasted walnut shells.

A tasting at Three Cellars Milwaukee. Thin almost non existent head. Beautiful color. Smooth bourbon feel. Tyranena at its best here.

Clear, rusty and red appearance; sticky and thin. Aroma seems oddly greasy with a dominant theme of butter fried bread and burnt cheddar; very cheap bourbon, some molasses, and thin maple syrup. Flavor is very tepid and almost unnoticeable; the scummy bourbon sweetness evident in the aroma is better behaved. Crispy malt cereals and a pleasant, doughy sweetness of honey wheat bread, molasses; distant hints of pungent, dark spice. Fennel mostly. Lots of nutty semi-sweetness alternatively oily, bitter, and rich; really growing in drinkability. Palate is light to medium in body, crisp, and caressing. Clean. Finishes with some dust of vanilla and honey; wet and lengthy. Turns out to be quite surprising and solidly made, though this is more an aversion of failure than a success.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Monger. Light caramel brown body with a smaller off white, almost light brown head. Only about 1 finger thick, and has no real retention. Some sporadic lacing though. Nose is immediately boozy, bourbon, whiskey, some woody or earthy notes from the barrel, and not much else. There is a sweetness here, but it’s hard to tell the source. It makes it hard to call this one a brown ale by the nose, because so many of the normal brown ale aromas are covered up by the barrel aging. Fore is heavily astringent, then tons of bourbon inspired notes, some malty sweetness, and some earthiness. Back end brings a wateriness to everything that is pretty off putting. This is like drinking a too sweet glass of bourbon or whiskey that has been diluted far too much by tap water. Medium bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel but the watery notes are still present. Finish is lengthy, boozy, sickly sweet and then at the very end once again watered down. A pretty big disappointment, since I have had some phenomenal stuff from this brewery.

This is nice beer, dark reddish brown, feels stronger than it actually is, tasty mix of malt , caramel and bourbon, add the story to it-well done!
