Brown amber body with a few bubbles for the head. Some caramel in the aroma, along with some grapes, and just a hint of leather and wood. Flavors of dark fruits, wood, and a little bit of leathery tannins near the finish. A good beer to sit and drink with friends.

In a word, wow. Who knew bourbon barrels could be so kind to a brown? Pours a reddish chocolate with a thin dense light tan head. Subtle chocolate with vanilla from the bourbon. A bit of bourbon with a bit of fruit. A clean simple flavorful brown with a jolt of vanilla. Lightly creamy with a thinnish body and low carbonation. Creamy subtle brown ale married with nice vanilla bourbon. Really smooth. Clean complementary flavors. A bit of coconut? Woody finish. Small roast. A bit of cherry and slightly acidic in the finish, bringing good balance. I’ve got to get more some of this in the future!

Thin tan head that fades quickly. Clear, dark brown color. Nose is bourbon first with some woody and vanilla notes, grainy. Body is fairly thin, dry on the palate. Plenty of whisky flavor with some faint malty notes, caramel and a touch of roast maybe. Dry whiskyish finish. A boilermaker. Thanks for sharing Brian!

Bottle from Bockyhorsey, shared with Slob. The pour was a fairly flat deep brown color. The aroma was strong bourbon and light vanilla, perhaps somem chocolate too. The flavor was watery bourbon with a dark malt presence underneath, but initially I could not have discerned whether it was a double bock, a porter, a brown ale, or whatever, too much bourbon (reminded me of the way Sprecher and New Glarus did their BA doppelbocks). Later a light chocolate and roast presence was detectable (barely), but this was too overwhelmed with the bourbon-ness, vanilla not even playing a strong enough role. A disappointing brew from a brewer I respect and had high expectations of. Much thanks to Bill and Wendy, though, for this opportunity!

12 oz bottle courtesy of Bockeyhorsey. First beer I have been able to enjoy from my homeland of Wisconsin as I left before drinking age. Nose of alcohol, burbon to be specific and dark fruit. Pours a nice deep brown with nice some lacing. Nice burbon flavor, not overwhelming. Medium body with a nice malty burbon finish. Really nice. Thanks Bill!!

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with ogglethorp. Pours a clear deep red with a thin head that completely disappeared before the first sip. Pleasant aroma caramel, bourbon and vanilla. A bit less flavorful than the aroma suggested with notes of caramel and bourbon. A little light bodied for a brown ale and a tad thin at the finish.

Small serving during 11-30-07 tasting at the Lex-Larp Cellars as I joined joet and the Twin Cities crew. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Sweet, chocolatey aroma, somewhat reminiscent of that of an abbey dubbel. Clear and reddish brown in appearance. Beige head. Sweet taste. Bourbon noticeable in the flavor. I’m going to have to return to this beer because my notes are weak.

Bottles courtesy of Ughsmash and buckybeer. Aroma has big nut brown character up front, bourbon/butter like sweetness in the background. Flavor is dominated by bourbon. Huge oak/wood presence and not much else. Decent mouthfeel, but thins out near the finish.
