Pours brown with small head and slight lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is sticky. OK, but I don’t think such low profile brews should be bourbon barrel aged. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 24, 2006 Bottled, no date. Pours a reddish mahogany with a moderate beige head. Definite aroma of bourbon, nuts, and toffee malts. Big bourbon taste, with nuts and toffee in the background. A little bit of alcohol in there too, despite the kinda low alcohol content. Medium-light bodied. Pretty decent brew. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 20, 2006 Pours a reddish brown color with a small soapy head, lowish carbonation. Nice, light brown sugar and whiskey aroma. Lots of sweet malt and bourbon barrel-associated flavors, but reminded me of whiskey & flat cola. Dogbrick (2864), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 20, 2006 Bottle from Bodega in La Crosse. Dark amber/brown color with a medium off-white head. Good lacing throughout. Aroma of bourbon, malt and nuts. Medium body with an earthy texture, and the bourbon aging is apparent throughout. Malty, nutty flavors as well. The finish is nutty also with a light alcohol burn left behind. Good all around. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2006 12 oz bottle courtesy of The_Enemy. This beer pours to a beautiful, deep caramel to brown color, with a thick, creamy, off white head, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is very inviting, with aromas of sweet malt, nuts, light toast, and hints of vanilla. The palate is soft, with good flavors of sweet malt, nuts, and light hints of vanilla and oak. This beer finishes with more good flavors of malt, and nut flavor, then ends with hints of oak and vanilla that linger. A portion of bourbon barrel aged beer is blended with this brown ale, and that gives this beer nice bourbon flavors of oak and vanilla . Very tasty, very enjoyable beer. This one would work well with deserts, or make a great beer to enjoy after a nice meal. JJClark (546), Roscoe, Illinois, USA

I found it to be a medium bodied beer with a nice smooth finish. It has a good balance of bourbon and roasted taste. There seems to be a bit of a coffee, caramel flavor as well. This was a good brown ale that I enjoyed and will certainly drink again.
