The nose is fruity, appley, malty, no bourbon here, strange. Flavor is malty, leafy, caramel, apple, mild barrel character. Crisp mouthfeel. roborb (60), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

This beer poured a translucent brown with a thin 1 inch head. The head died quickly and left a little lacing on the glass. The smell of bourbon is prevalent, as is caramel. I found the taste matched the smell. This beer was very thin for me and I didn’t enjoy that aspect of it. Overall, this beer is a great session beer and nothing more. jcr (1177), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 5, 2009 Bottle. Clear brown body with a short off-white head, mostly diminishing. Malty, woody aroma of caramel, toast, oak, bourbon, vanilla and nuts with hints of chocolate and wet paper. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of bourbon and barrel. Medium body, water texture and lively carbonation. I am not a big fan of brown ales, but this ale, with its touch of bourbon barrel, is very good. I’d buy more.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 15, 2009 Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma is malt, nuts and a bit of bourbon. Flavor is lighter than I anticipated, with good malt and only some bourbon. Good, but not great. KAggie97 (2469), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours an average root-beer brown with a nice head of beige. Aroma is faint nut, malt, and, if you really vacuum in the stuff, slight bourbon. Flavor is light and approachable cigar malt with just a whisper of bourbon in the finish. Thin and prickly mouthfeel. Not bad; very sessionable. nuplastikk (1206), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2009 12oz shorty bottle. Medium thick toffee-brown color, nice short thick head. Sweet caramel malt thickness, and a little Bourbon sweetness, though I might hot have picked it out if not for the labeled description. Rather sessionable and unique as well. Not exactly my favorite but good enough as far as originality and follow-through.
