| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2009 12oz shorty bottle. Medium thick toffee-brown color, nice short thick head. Sweet caramel malt thickness, and a little Bourbon sweetness, though I might hot have picked it out if not for the labeled description. Rather sessionable and unique as well. Not exactly my favorite but good enough as far as originality and follow-through. BVery (537), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2009 BOTTLE: Amber/orange pour, with a nutty aroma and some bourbon poking through (once the head dissipates). Taste is a solid nutty brown with a bourbon kicker very late. Very interesting and enjoyable beer. daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 6, 2009 Bottle. I am underwhelmed by most of the tyranena beers lately and this one is no different. It is fair brown, but where the hell is the barrel flavor? I get no hints of bourbon. Just a malty brown with a hint of hops. I need to temper my expectations of other stuff from this brewery. tedovertu (260), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 3, 2009 Dark clear amber color with an average white head. Pretty good lacing. Very mellow flavor with a lack of any discernible hops. It is no Surly coffee bender but not a bad brown. The bourbon gives it an off flavor that is pleasant but hard to describe. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2009 Bottle: Poured a deep burgundy color ale with a small foamy head with average retention and great lacing. Aroma is dominated by vanilla and bourbon with some light alcohol ester also discernable. Taste is also a mix between some vanilla and some bourbon. Medium body with Ok carbonation and some alcohol was discernable. Probably one of the most complex and satisfying brown ale I ever had if you can truly categorise this beer as such. gdaigle (12), North Oaks, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 11, 2009 This is a well-made beer. Well-balanced malt sweetness, alcohol, slight hop note and the perfect amount of flavor from the bourbon barrels. I have a 15.5 gal keg of this at my house. It is well-received by company and still a complex enough beer for me to enjoy. I’d add a slightly more pronounced malt sweetness to the beer, offsetting that with more barrel aging but they have done an excellent job without any suggestions from me. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Cloudy bronze with a coarse, thinning beige head. Nutty, toasted aroma, with a sharper hit of bourbon and roasted malt. A little caramel sweetness, round in the mouth, enough bitterness to carry it. Well done. sebletitje (1958), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2008 wow. In a mix 12-pack loaded with some awesome beers.
Pours amber with beige head.
Aroma has plenty of dark fruits, with light notes of oak and vanilla.
Taste of roasted caramel malts mixed with dark fruits.
Finish is refreshing fruits reminding me of a clean white grapes with light chocolate bitterness. There is a very smooth and enjoyable resinous mouthfeel that engulfs the palate with light touch of bourbon.
A definite goodness.
