| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2008 nose of sweet caramel malt and a bit of booze right off the bat. chocolate creeps in. sweetness developed from cocoa typically only seen in a stout makes itself known. mouthfeel however is very unporter like. this is fairly slick and fast. still, not much to characterize this as a brown, this beer confounds classification. huge points for using bourban barreling in a new context, this is a complex beer. theisti (1665), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Zipps in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pour is mostly clear brown golden ruby. Fluffy 2 inch off white head. Aroma of toasted malt, faint sweetness, wood and Bourbon. Nose is pleasant and restrained, nice. Taste is toasted malt, some sweet, and the bourbon and wood gently introduced to the finish. Taste is not quite as integrated or balanced as the nose, but still quite nice. Palate coats the mouth some, but drinkable. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA

Reddish brown with a foamy off white head. Flavor is bitter and creamy with a nice maltiness, some cheesey flavors, light bourbon, some woodiness, caramel, and some other sweet notes. Palate is mild with a bitter roasted malty duration. Good. BeerBunker (607), Burbank, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Pours a reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma is of malts, caramel, weak bourbon, and vanilla. Taste was Malt, cinnamon, caramel, vanilla, and wood. The bourbon flavors aren’t over powering, and mix in well with the other flavors. This one is surprisingly well balanced. Tastes god and is very drinkable. It’s not a bourbon aged punch in the face like some might expect. DalzAle (492), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA

All the flavor I would expect in a high gravity/high alcohol beer. Very nice that I can enjoy a few of these without getting too tipsy. Anyone who enjoys decent oak aged beers should give this a shot! wench (30), st. paul, Minnesota, USA
