An orange brown pour with an aroma of raisins, malt and light alcohol. A flavor of raisins and brown sugar. A good warm feeling that I always find to be a pleasure in a beer. A palate that is rich but just a tad fizzy. A beer that I like muchos. Thanks monger.

12 oz bottle with gputty. Clear golden brown with almost no head. Mildly sour nose, funky wheat and a touch of rotting veggies. Flavor is more of the same - did this one go bad? Dunno, but not good.

From bottle thanks to Monger. Pours a dark amber with no head. Nose is sour, some vinegar, rotting flowers when swirled and sweet malt. Flavor is mostly sweet malt.

Bottle. Pours a nice dark amber color with a light off white head. Taste of plum chocolate and caramel were noticed. This is a medium bodied beer that finishes slightly sweet. I think this is another of Tyranena’s home runs. A very good beer all around.

12oz bottle-A dark brown with a beige head that dissipates quickly. An aroma of malt and caramel. and a slight hint of coffee. A medium body with a taste of prunes, caramel and honey. A different taste but nonetheless good tasting.

Bottled. Pour was a hazy reddish-brown with a towering beige head. Nose was very sweet with toasty plums, caramel, cream soda, and more dark sugars. Flavor was tacky with plum, raisin, chocolate, and caramel sweetness.. as well as grainy husk, metal, and a stale soda feel. Carbonation was a tad low, and never really felt good on the palate. Meh.

This was a much different doppelbock than I’ve had before. I suppose I can only compare it to Leinie’s Big Butt, which isn’t as close to the style as Tyranena’s fine offering. When I tested the aroma of the beer, I detected that familiar roasted/nutty scent that I am so used to when drinking many brown ales and porters. Hints of caramel, chocolate, and coffee made their presence known to my olfactory senses. The pour was dark and hearty, as a winter seasonal should be. The body was deep brown with a dark tan head. When I held the beer up to a light, the body appeared a translucent medium brown. The sweetish aroma was offset by the flavor: a sort of sour hazelnut taste. This sounds terrible, but it really is the best way to describe a unique and surprisingly pleasant taste. Overall, this was a smooth drinking beer that is hearty enough to serve as a light snack before a good old Wisconsin Friday fish fry.

Bottle courtesy of ughsmash. Pours transparent mahogany with no head. Aroma is roasted grain and caramel. Flavor seems off, some caramel, but overly sweet with alot of fruity esters. Tad thin on the palate.
