Commercial Description:
We brewed our 2009 version of our Scotch Ale and will be tapping on ObamaNight (Jan 20, 08) as InaugurAle. We have slightly altered the recipe from last year, marginally increasing the amount of peated malt and using the traditional ingredient of roasted barley (just a wee bit)... we removed a dark caramel malt and replaced with a special malt that should also contribute well to the overall character. As always, we use plenty of Scotland’s finest Golden Promise as well as our Wisconsin base malt.

Thank You MOTORTODDHEAD, man this beer is a homerrun. Nice taste of nuttyness, and sweet toffee notes. Caramel and malt backbone. This is very smooth and carbination is low. Silky mouthfeel. Nice amber color. This is a freaking awsome beer. Must have more. Thanks Todd

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber-brown color with a head that quickly fades down to an oily rim. The taste is very malt centered and chocolaty, with very nice specialty malt nuances. Really quite an exceptional Scotch Ale, as it remains pretty drinkable and balanced, not overly thick and cloying like some versions. Bitter hop balance melds perfectly with the thick chocolate malt tones. A great beer.

On tap at Brasserie V. Clear red-brown with a tall tan head, that, however, leaves no lace. Aromas of caramel and peat, with a faint generic fruitiness. Flavor is also caramel based, strongly nutty, lightly fruity, like amaretto and dried apricots. The sweetness is offset by smoky peat elements in the latter half of each sip. Full bodied, smooth sipping. Nothing is off. This is a very nice scotch ale.

On tap at tasting room - Poured copper brown color with medium tan head. Aroma - malt, smoke, caramel and brown sugar. Flavor - Tasted like the aroma. Palate - brown sugar, scotch, caramel, roasted malt and hint of chocolate. Overall - really nice beer with alot of drinkable qualities. Tyranena is a damn fine brewery and enjoyed the time I had in their tasting room!

Growler courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a large head. Strong, malty aroma. Big, burly, malty body. A light graininess. Very little peat, but just enough to be noticeable. Some chocolate on the end. Quite nice. Just remember that "Baaaaaah!" means no!

Aroma is definite dark roasted malting, and a hint of what I would assume to be the peating, and just enough caramel to let you know this is not a stout your dealing with, taste well its just seems so unusual to taste a dark roasted brew in the Tyranena tasting room.Nice burst of well roasted malt,a definite smack of bakers unsweetened chocolate, and a distict overtone of what for me tasted like fresh cut tobbaco, a little more chewy then past Scotch ales I’ve had here, which I always prefer, just a touch of carbonic bite, which tingles the tongue after the inital smoothness,it all finishes with satisfying roasted slightly sweet taste. The Scots would be proud to serve this

Ruby brown translucent pour w/ a nice thick well laced tan head. Pal was pretty avg. Aroma is roasty some raw wheat nice caramels and lightly sweet. First taste had a hint of smoke then a well roasted sweet malt almost syruppy wheat is clearly present reminded me of peat from an isley scotch for a bit. A very good scotch ale.

Clear light brown color with a thin, tan head. Light sweet malt aroma with a peaty herbal touch. Roasted malt flavor with chocolate and heather notes. Medium bodied with a nice smoky finish make this a very nice beer.
