Pours a hazy, rust-brown color; light tan head with patchy lacing. Not a whole lot coming from the aroma: some roasted and burnt malts, some dried fruits. The taste shows more complexity: burnt malts, licorice, dark dried fruits and bready character; well-hopped as well, showing some nice balancing bitterness. Medium, roasted malt and brown sugar finish. jason (1623), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2007 Bottle thanks to buckybeer. Clear but cloudy like brown body and thin head. Smell is strong and a little funky, malt. Flavor is the same. A little too potent at first. Sweet. Not bad but needs more age on it. jewedekind (450), Middleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 26, 2007 Bottle. Pours an amber-brown with a minimal head. Prominent nutty/woody nose. Bitter up front and throughout. Chinook? Lingers a bit with cardboard and beechwood. Not bad, but not great. joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 26, 2007 Nice nose like an alsacian riesling, but the flavor dissapoints a little. It has a decent malt balance to the astringent hoppiness. The flavor is a little off, but the nose and finish are great. WeeHeavySD (2990), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 26, 2007 12oz bottle via trade with Monger, many thanks. Pours cloudy dark brownish amber with a thin tan film. The scent is very minimal and faint, sweet dried fruit pervades the aroma. The taste is more like a barley wine but there is a lot of bitterness here. It doesn’t appear that the bitterness comes from hops it just is slightly bitter in the aftertaste. Decent BW expected more. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Pours a hazy orange/amber that shows an average sized head of off-white.
Big caramel aroma with some dried fruits at the edges.
Moderately sweet flavor profile, but not overly complex.
Well done, but I would expect a little more dimension and depth in a Barleywine from this brewer. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

I’d like to take a second to state what the brewers say about this beer: Ruby appearence. Fruity nose. Rich, thick, malty body. Stiff hop backbone. Thank you ma’am, may I have another? No I can’t have another!!(althought I have another stored away for future use). All the things the label says are true but they forgot to add the part where a massive bandaid flavor dulls all the other wonder flavors. My soon to be wife says she didn’t taste any bandaids but her palate is not as safisticated as mine. I’m hopeing the plastic flavor subsides but as of now you will be singing the stuck on bandaid song about this beer.
