pours out a cloudy amber color with a small beige head. aroma is sweet and sticky. Lots of fruit notes here. Flavor is a bit malty with a lot of fruity sweetness. not a bad barleywine at all.

Bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a murky deep amber with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, alcohol, wood, hops, dark fruit and bready yeast -- some notes of whiskey too. Flavour is sweet and quite malty along with some hops, yeast and alcohol. Medium bodied. Not one of Tyranena’s best but still pretty good.

Courtesy mgumby10. My first beer from these guys. This one poured a cloudy maroon color with barely any head. The aroma is of sweet dark fruit, malts, and caramel. It has a typical barley wine smell. The taste was similar with the dark fruits, sweet malts, and caramel dominating the flavor. Pretty standard flavors, but nothing too crazy. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a little carbonation that finishes sweet on the palate. This was pretty good, but nothing exciting.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and garthicus, my bottle via my Festivus Santa 2007. Murky ruby-orange, minimal off-white head. Soft aroma of alcohol, sweet grain, dusty rosehips driness and lightly herbal. Taste is a little unbalanced, sweet, juicy, boozy, but I was hit initially by a huge wave of pungent funky barnyard, but that died back and it was mostly pungent herbal hops carrying on with the sweet malt and alcohol. Thick, boozy, still mouthfeel, long alcoholic linger, a bitter pungent aftertaste.

Bottle shared with Harry & Blankboy; Cloudy copper-red with a teeny tiny head. Aroma: Banana and grapefruit with malt. I feel like I am drinking a cold hot whiskey (ie a hot whiskey that’s gone cold) bittersweet with hops and honey. Sticky and enjoyable.

Courtesy mgumby10. Slightly cloudy amber with a sparse white head. Mild caramel and alcohol with some peppery notes and good amount of dark fruits. Alcohol in the background. Tart malts with a caramel sweetness and a smooth finish. A nice BW and one I’d like to try again.

Bottle… O-Town Christmas Gathering ‘07… Cloudy amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. The nose imparts plenty of caramel malt along with alcohol and a perceptible smoke phenol. Full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Sweet crystal malt with a salty undertone and a hint of smoke. Intermediate alcohol and hop bitterness. Lengthy, sweet, acerbic finish. Kudos to mgumby10 for hauling this one up from West Palm Beach!

An absolutely gorgeous deep red color with a thin but perfectly white head. Figs and plum in the aroma. Definitely a malty barleywine. Sweet and very fruity tasting with some pleasing bitterness showing up late for the party. Alcohol is present at the end but not overbearing. Decent barleywine.
