Figs and plum in the aroma. Definitely a malty barleywine. Sweet and very fruity tasting with some pleasing bitterness showing up late for the party. Alcohol is present at the end but not overbearing. Decent barleywine. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Courtesy Secretsanta. Pours a cloudy, murky amber color with not much of a head. Smells of sweet malts, molasses, raisins, and bready yeast. The flavor is fairly sweet, good amount of malt, some of that yeastiness is noticeable as well. Pretty standard barley wine flavors, nothing overly exciting or disappointing about this brew. Starting to get the feel that this brewery is solid, yet uses litle imagination. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 26, 2007 bottle. Hazy amber brown pour...minimal off-white head. Big malt nose...lotsa fruitiness. Flavor is similar...big sweet malt flavor, some alcohol, citric bitterness, medium bodied and tasty. Not my favorite bwine, but still pretty darn good. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA

Poured with a cloudy reddish brown body. The head is yellow tinted tan. Aroma has notes of cream of wheat and toffee. There is also a little bit of coffee hiding behind that initial sweet malt character. The taste is light caramel with some toast. There is also a walnut note. Very sweet with little hops to balance this one out. I think I would love this with a couple of years on it. Dorwart (1821), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 3, 2007 (bottled 20-nov-2006) Thin light orange head with minimal carbonation. Big sweet aroma with lots of caramel malts, dark fruit (prunes and vinuous notes), some toffee and a bit of tartness. Color is a cloudy dark mahagony brown. Wow, I am surprised that the alcohol is so prominent up front. Sweet and malty but the body is slightly thinner than I expected. Maybe it is just the big alcohol presence that appears to thin the flavor out. This has got to be more than 9%. Lots of caramel, toffee, less fruit than the aroma and a bit of dry bitterness. Finishes hot and sweet with a lingering dryness. A very good and hot barleywine! bboeckl (135), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA

A great beer for sipping. Very heavy body. Deluctable. I would buy again. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a slightly cloudy ruby body with a minimal beige head that ran to a thin ring immediately. Nose is lightly fruity with some toffee malt, light tobacco, light alcohol, and a touch of meaty smoke. Lots of toffee sweetness with a really pretty noticable smoke note, especially on the finish. Moderate alcohol with just a moderate hop bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly creamy texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Very minimal stickiness. Overall, a pretty nice beer, can’t believe they don’t mention smoked malt, cause it sure seems smoky to me. adrian910ss (1429), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Weak aroma of dark fruits, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is of sweet dark fruit, caramel, creamy buttery toffee and brown sugar. Nice, but something is lacking.
