A pinstripe is all you get for residual lacing. Aroma is sweet. Full nectar w/ few residual effers. Almost still. Big and malty w/ a defined earthy smokiness. Hops rate is up there balancing it all out. The usual flavors coming and going but the smokiness I really like. The finish is long w/ a mild yet lasting bittering component. Highly recommended. pbarbercheck (2), USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 11, 2007 this is more of a scotish ale than a barley wine.the heavy use of peated malt makes this limited ale one of my favorites. if you like single malt scotch and flavorful beer ..you’ll love this one. wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA

Cloudy thick brown amber color. Quite a bit of yeast sediment that I poured into my glass. Heavy body. Sweet and delicious. Sweetnees and tiny bit of alcohol burn makes me think the ABV is higher. Buttery aroma. Super easy to drink. No oxidation, but tastes mellowed slightly from age. Very good. Yum!!! 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 11, 2005 I had a full glass of this at Tyranena 9/10. It pours to a hazy red/brown body with a thin white head. The flavor is initially strawberries. Then, tons of chocolate and a sweet oak cask cover up on the finish. The palate is hugely creamy. Really thick. Slight alcohol. The aroma is strawberry fruit rollups and roasted chocolate malts. This barley wine is quite different than others I’ve had. I like the massive strawberry hops. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 20, 2007 12 oz bottle from discount liquors in milwaukee. Cloudy dark brown/red color like dark apple cider with no head, only a thin off-white head that hula-hoops the edge of the glass. Lots of lively, fruity aromas with lots of dough/cookie, some alc, very well done. Flavor is cookie, med to big sweet, slight alc that is very appropiate, dough, apple, cranberry, some other citrus maybe orange, tangy in that barleywine style and barely any hop bitterness, some grains. Med to full, syrupy body with no carb. Overall a very enjoyable brew and a very enjoyable barleywine, very reminiscent of moylans barleywine. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Smell is fruity, similar to strawberries, with a nice light smoked smell. Taste is sweet and smokey, very similar to immort ale. Good stuff, pretty easy to drink. Not sure if this will benefit from age because I think its pretty good right now. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

Alcohol presence becomes more evident on each sip. Full bodied different, tastes way stronger then 9% JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2004 Red/orange color, lasting off-white head. Fruity bubblegum aroma. An average barleywine flavor... nice that it isn’t overhopped, and also isn’t overly sweet. Sticky smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is very good... need to rerate this though as my note taking was lazy.
