Pours a cloudy, dark reddish-orange amber body. The head light tan in color and starts out dense, settling to a patchy film. Sudsy, microfilm lace flares up from the body. The aroma shows strong orange and grapefruit hops up front, giving way to some pine resin, and eventually settling to a malty caramel base. There are some toasty, grainy scents mixed in as well. The flavor starts out quite sharp, with biting grapefruit hops attacking the roof of the mouth. Toasted bread and caramel rush to the rescue, adding much needed balance. Medium bodied and not at all sticky. Pretty sour and astringent on the finish, detracting from what is a pretty solid beer up until that point. Its still quite good, but not as great as I was expecting.

12oz - Indy tasting Sept 07 - Aroma is hops and caramel and card board. Pours cloudy brown-orange with a good head and lacing. Flavor is both malty and hoppy well balanced and tasty. Palate is just tart enough. Not a bad brew.

Aroma is a hoppy with nice malt tones. Color is a nice amber with light carbonation and good tight head. Taste bitter. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp. Finish is a sweet malt flavor backed by nice hop flavor and bold bitterness.

Had this on tap at the brewery a little while back. Pours a bright almost reddish tinted deep golden with a nice head. Very powerful hop aroma that exudes a good dose of citrus and pine, but there is also a cloying amount of sweet malt that balances the hops a little. Flavor is extremely powerful, impressive, and balanced for an IIPA. Nice dose of citrus follwed with a great caramelly sweet malt. Fantastic IIPA.

12oz Stubby $6.99 4-Pack Village Wine and Dell Stickin’ It to the Man, another of Tyranena’s Brewers Gone Wild Series. Pours with a ruby body that becomes glowing orange when backlit. Very few carbonation bubbles creep through the slightly hazy body to the surface. A two finger off-white eggshell head formed on the pour falling to a half finger leaving sticky lacing on the way down. This beer has a big sweet caramel nose. As a matter of fact the whole of this beer is layered in sweetness. The caramel begins things but are quickly overtaken by sweetened white grapefruit and orange. This beer smells like candy. The sweetness is there but not at all off putting. Flavor begins with that big dose of caramel again. The malt hit flows effortlessly into sweetened grapefruit mid-palate but there’s a little of that unsweetened grapefruit bitterness leading into the finish. Some floral hoppiness helps finish things off. Nicely done with a mild lingering sweetened bitterness. Medium bodied with a velvety smooth mouthfeel. Sluggish carbonation leaves this beer alone to work it’s magic, adding to that smoothness. Not sure of the abv. in this one. I’m guessing in the area of 7%, but it is an easy one to put away. Enjoyable, refreshing and bitter enough to keep you wanting more. Tyranena does it again. Do they make a bad beer? All their beers I’ve ever sampled have been excellent. Keep the Brewers Gone Wild Series coming guys cause I can’t get enough. 10/5/07

nice aroma, hops but a lot of scents (fruit?) that I didn’t expect; apricot color and just transluscent, not clear; wow, really nice flavor: sorta mild hop sting but a ton of other rich flavors (sorry, I’m not very good at matching a flavor to a word, with my eyes closed I probably can’t identify a chunk of pineapple, but I know I like it). Not at all the type of IPA I typically like, but I really like this. Just a really nice combo of flavors that all complement the full IPA-dose of hops. Well done. [tasted next to a Lagunitas IPA] Not really a good comparison, just happens to be what’s next to me. The Lagunitas is really nice but pretty one-dimensional next to this. I like them both.

Bottled. Thx Mrsiblursi. Copper colour, bubbly head. Rich hop profile in aroma, that contributes with flowers and black tea. Also bit citric, and a suggested caramelly maltiness. Slight sourish in flavour at first. Rich toffee maltiness dominate the flavour, then flowery hops are sensed, and after a salty, almost smokey bitterness. Medium bodied.
