As a coffee lover, the aroma was amazing (very strong dark coffee aroma). First sip reminded me of the strong cup of black coffee I had this morning, delicious and relaxing. Was surprised to see this has a 7.5 ABV, will have to make sure I finish this slowly! If you like coffee beers, I would suggest picking this up (or trading for it!) Pours a very dark brown with a one finger tan head that faded into a light film topper with some spotty lacing. Nose is huge coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is espresso, cocoa and roasted oats with a slight bitter hop finish. Medium, creamy mouth feel. Good stuff, especially if you like coffee. Thanks Andy! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 18, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra and Rybra at the brewery. Coffee-ness. Wow, coffee. Not as much body as it should have, but so much coffee flavor and aroma. And it’s alcoholic and beer, which is even better. But if I seriously wanted alcohol and coffee, I’d take a shot of whiskey and chase it with some coffee, aight? riversideAK (2741), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Great aroma of roasted coffee, softer chocolate sweetness, and maybe a touch of molasses. Pours black with a thin head. The flavor is nice and roasty upfront, like cold carbonated coffee, this is followed by silky flaked oats and chocolate sweetness, minimal amounts of dark fruit, and a little earth. Lingering dry roast, the mouthfeel is incredibly smooth and creamy with prickly carbonation. Really, really good. GAManiac (1179), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Many thanks to iowaherkeye for hooking me up with this one. Devil over a Barrel is an absolute favorite, so I was looking forward to trying this one. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip.
Pours dark, dark brown out of the bottle with a small off-white head that dissipates quickly to a ring.
The aroma is big on sweet dark malts and roasted coffee with some chocolate thrown in on top. There are hints of dark fruit and molasses as well.
The taste is fairly sweet up front with some chocolate malts and that smooth oat flavor. But the bitter coffee takes over after the sweetness leaving a lingering bitterness through the finish. Complex and yummy.
The mouthfeel is off-the-charts creamy, like a dessert with good carbonation that coats the mouth in the coffee and malts. Wonderful palate. Tmoney99 (4764), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Pours clear dark brown color with a moderater frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Heavy toasted dark chocolate and oatmeal aroma. Medium to full body with a thick smooth texture. Heavy chocolate bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy coffee bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout porter. harrisoni (6828), Ashford, Kent, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Bottle. Big thanks to Mes_and_Sim for this one. Very deep brown. Lots of camp coffee, powdery strong coffee and lots of oatmeal. Quite oily in mouth. Lots more coffee. Not exactly subtle, just a temendous aroma. Rest is pretty good, but the coffee just is too dominant. Gurst (338), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
