From a trade with GrimReeser... Thanks, Chad! Tasty, coffee-laden porter with well-hidden strength. Dangerously quaffable. Pours an opaque, thick black with nice brown head. Smells of freshly ground coffee with notes of licorice and molasses. Flavor has a light sweetness carried on a relatively creamy mouthfeel, with dark coffee notes combining for a distinct impression of frappucino. Light bitterness seems to come from coffee and dark chocolate notes rather than hops, which is kind of pleasant. Some carbonation lightens the beer and interferes with the creaminess, just a tad. Very accessible and easy to drink. Smoooooov.

Thanks a ton iowaherkeye. Pours a dark brown brew that allows some light in the pour and sits black in the glass. Produces a one finger brown head. The nose isn’t as upfront as I would have liked. Rich coffee, dark roasty, a little chocolate. The flavor is very nice big coffee, roasted, bakers chocolate, very little alcohol, very light waxyness. The palate is extremely full and smooth, oatmeal is doing its job. Finishes with nice rich coffee and a slight warmth.

Dark brown coloring, huge, rich, cocoa...it’s there in the nose, and it’s all over the flavor, this is Huge! Rich, thick, massive, monumentous... Silky smooth, as they say...rich and tasty, thick and full, but not too much,...loads of malty promise hanging on the tongue... massive, really. I write in my second sampling...thick with coffee..immense....magnificent. even from an utter sucker of the coffee porter/stout variety, this is astounding...hey, there’s oatmeal, too!

Thick viscous pour. Frothy tan head and decent lace. Roasty aroma. Coffee and chocolate upfront. Malty finish.

20070630 12oz bottle. Notes not really legible due to a spill on the page...full bodied, huge coffee but mild old coffee(?). All about coffee - good if one dimensional...big porter.

Not quite what I was expecting with this one. Moderatley watered down pour resulting in a dark brown amber edged pour, minor head. Nose was light on everything...chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, Same thing went for the flavor, great tastes were abound, but seemed subdued.

Honestly, I really wanted to share this with some friends from RateBeer - but the devil made me drink it... I really wanted to share the sight of his pitch black beer with the huge, creamy and lasting head - but the devil made me open and pour it... I really, really wanted to let other Ratebeerians enjoy the perfect aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and the light sweetness - but the devil made me enjoy it all alone... And I wish someone else but me could have tasted the smooth, slightly sweet and delicious flavour of coffee, light chocolate, roasted malt - but the devil made me drink it all alone... so no one but me enjoyed the incredibly nice, smooth and pleasant balance with the light roasted bitterness and the light pepper-bite in the long finish and cry out - YUMMMI - because the devil made me feast on it all by myself... I’m truly sorry - but the devil made me do it.. - thanks After4ever/Tom - I really enjoyed this one, as you might have noticed :))
