| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2008 The body is a thick, dark chocolate brown. A small, foamy tan head settles quickly to a thin film with a prominent edge. Minimal, spotty, sudsy lacing noted. The aroma shows rich, roasty coffee with cream, accompanied by chocolate malts and moderate, earthy hop bitterness. The flavor follows suit, with coffee being the star attraction. I’m not a coffee lover, but this is an awesome brew. There’s just enough chocolate sweetness to balance out the intensely roasty coffee profile. The oatmeal element adds incredible smoothness and drinkability. The medium-full mouthfeel is just a little over carbonated, with fizzy bubbles intensifying the bitter coffee finish. Reminds me alot of Terrapin Wake-N-Bake, though note quite as huge. Very solid brew. Worthy of its lofty rating. after4ever (2828), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2008 12-oz. Black. Huge, thick, surging, moussy tan head that falls quickly away to nothing--no head or lace. Ginormous coffee nose with soft sweet oats. Medium body: soft and silky, just as the label describes. Rich coffee flavors go nuts from the attack through the mid-palate and long into the finish. Delicious. They really nailed that coffee flavor. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Bottle courtesy after4ever. I’ve been impressed with the "Brewers Gone Wild" series, and really, where else are you going to find a Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Porter? Pours opaque blackish brown with a lacy, thick and fluffy tan head. Aroma of brewed coffee. Creamy medium body. Sweet coffee and brown sugar taste. Dry and slightly sour espresso finish. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Black body with a small tan head that fades. (3+) Dry mocha aroma, roast. (6+) Dry roasty, moderately dilute roast coffee flavour. Average palate is a touch under carbonated for my liking. Decent but the coffee profile is just not for me. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a pitch black body with a medium-sized brown-mocha head.
The aroma is dominated by sweet raw coffee along with hints of vanilla and caramel. The taste brought on another dimension that seems a bit more complex than the aroma would have you believe. The palate is delectably rich and smooth. Layered chocolate, coffee and soft oatmeal flavours. Very nice!
Thanks for the bottle, Harry. GregClow (2516), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Bottle shared with tupalev. My bottle, obtained from HogTownHarry. Deep almost-black colour with a wispy brown head. Aroma is sweet, with the expected coffee notes, but fairly subdued. Medium bodied. Flavour is roasty, with the coffee and dark malt in good balance. As tupalev notes, I think this suffered in comparison to the Bell’s Java Stout - it was good, but not the WOW beer that others are finding it to be. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Aroma - muted -some sweetness. Tate - again, muted. Dry oatmeal, some alcohol, some sweetness. The whole thing is solid but sort of quiet and really suffers from coming directly after Bell’s Java in our mini-tasting. I had no idea it was rated so highly. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 24, 2007 Pours an opaque black with a brown hue. Small cocoa head that dies to a ring with small lacing. Smells of delicious roasted coffee, bam. I love it. Better than I could hope for. Tastes of expresso, molasses and a hint of chocolate malt. Creamy, full mouthfeel, very smooth. Great drinkability. This was an absolute joy to sip on and a tip top representative of the style.
