| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2007 12oz bottle. Near-perfect espresso roast nose, with heavy chocolate, very fresh overall. Texture is a little thinner than I think would be perfect for a beer like this, but it’s at least creamy and rich. Along with the chocolate and coffee, some cherries show up, very faint like, but more noticeable in the finish, which turns slightly sweet. Overall a fantastic beer. Rich, lightly sweet, and with low hop presence (how I like ’em). ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 6, 2007 Dark brown colour with a tan head. Roasted, coffee bitter aroma with a light chocolate and fruity sweetness. Roasted malty flavor with a coffee bitterness and notes of fruit. RollinHard (761), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2007 Thanks to CaptainCougar for this bottle. Pours black with a small but long lasting tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is heavy on the coffee, but it’s appealing in it’s nuttiness and earth. Some light chocolate and leaves in the background. Tastes of dark chocolate, similar deep nutty coffee, and a pleasant mild acidity or astringency. Finishes similar to the flavor but woodier, and coats the throat in flavor. This beer has a slight grit to the texture in my opinion and feels full to the mouth, yet light on the tongue. Very creamy. A bit simple, but this is well done and these sort of flavors just can’t go wrong to me. antzman (313), Clarksville, Indiana, USA

The aroma has a lot of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Robust flavors, full with coffee, and malts, with a hint of cocoa. Full finish. Damn well made beer. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2007 12 oz bottle. Chocolate color with no head. Dark and opaque with a hint of brown fuzz. The aroma is slightly chalky with dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor is roasted coffee bean, roasted grain, Kailua, and dry unsweet coco. Do I note a hint of lactose? This is everything my wife hates about a beer. I on the other hand enjoy it. Medium body and the mouth feel is kind of wet. A good brew. BückDich (4854), McCall, Idaho, USA

Nose of starchy coffee, vegetal maple and soy sauce, nice chocolate and corn. The flavor is vegetal. Sweet, clean, lots of coffee finish. Nice porter.
