Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Roasted nut flavor with chocolate and oatmeal, making this a smooth easy to drink beer. ABV hardly noticed. Pretty solid higher strength porter. wetherel (1628), Encinitas, California, USA

Dark black brown liquid. Aroma of coffee maybe a bit dry smell. Body looks medium to think on swirl. Taste is a nice kind of mellow. With this smell, I sometimes predict a hard dry bitterness to follow in the taste. It is still dry, but not bitter A little bit husky. No acidity. Pretty easy to drink. Not my favorite style (I have a big sweet tooth), but well done nonetheless. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA

Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. Coffee aroma becomes much stronger as it warms. Body seems a little thin. Update - retried less coffee, more sweet chocolate. Sweeter. Alcohol seems to come out a little, must have been covered up by the coffee before. Like it much more. shrubber85 (2916), Wallhalben, Germany

Dark black-brown color with small head. Strong coffee, chocolate and oatmeal flavors - light astringency. Moderate carbonation and acidity. A marriage of coffee and beer - spectacular. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 22, 2007 Bottle thanks to Drewbeerme - Nearly black in color with a fading tan head. Aroma is big with lots of fresh coffee, some chocolate, and maybe some cinnamon? Detecting some spicy-sweetness in there. Flavor is a great mix of sweet and strong coffee, dark chocolate, roasty-sweet malts, oats, and more coffee. Very smooth. Could be thicker, but its hard to complain when a beer is this tasty! miketd (680), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

The aroma in this beer is great...coffee and a bit of chocolate. I could just smell this beer and be happy. Great body too! Silky and smooth. Flavor is more of the same- coffee and chocolate with a pleasently bitter finnish. Man, this beer went too quick...I need more! GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA

My third time with this brewers and damn if they didn’t make another outstanding beer. The beer pours out into my Maudite glass a black coffee color with a dark chocolate brown highlight. Very little head on this beer, only a small ring of foam. Aroma is rich with freshly roasted coffee, light ash, and molasses. Mouthfeel is supple, like a lamb skin jacket, with enough creamyness to be extraordinary. Flavor is a fantastic combonation of fresh coffee, dark chocolate, and sweet oats. A really outstanding beer that blurs the lines of a porter and a stout. Naven (873), Poway, California, USA

Very light carbonation. Aroma of coffee and dark malts. Flavor is much of the same, coffee, coffee and malt. Totally enjoyable though. Palate is velvety and smooth. Very nice.
