(bottle, thanks JK) Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is one dimensional, but contains a really nice smell of roasted coffee, with just a slight bit of hops. Flavor is also a blast of coffee with a nice roasted finish. A bit thin though.

[Bottle, thanks JK] Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is just a blast of coffee. Taste is the same. Too thin--weak point of the beer. Very one-sided beer, decent for what it is though.

Thanks to my Secret Santa, BBB63. Pours black with a small beige, foamy head. Smells a bit of olives(?) and coffee. Quite sweet, with mild aromas of toasted malts, burnt malts and scorched malts. Also lots of toasted coffee with tiny hints of rhum(?). Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation. Long toasted finish with some coffee. Nice.

streaks of lace, coffee aroma remains strong and begins to pick up an ashy component, the creamy coffee flavor still overcomes the ashy character, the chocolate from the underlying porter finally comes through after much warming,

#1300 - 12 oz – Dense used motor oil black, thick dark tan creamy head. Intense warm and wet espresso grounds aromatics are well entrenched within the realm of toasted black chocolate notes, vanilla cream puffs, and hints of black licorice Twizzlers. Black coffee bitterness balances very well on charred chocolate tones from start to finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry, bitter coffee finish. Love Italian or French roast coffee = love this beer…

Bottle from pantanap (thanks!). Poured black with no head. Immediate aroma of roasty coffee. Can’t really pick out much else though. Taste is pretty much the same. Big time coffee taste, but not to the point of being too aggressive or overdone. Very smooth texture on the palate, but becomes a little watery later. Even more roastiness comes out in the finish. Practically no carbonation to speak of. A good coffee brew to be sure, but just short of great.

No head from a somewhat high pour. Minimal carnbonation. Thin wisp of bubbles is all that is there. Color is essentially black with a bit of reddish brown around the edges. Big roasty and bitter coffee aroma. Dusty and dry smelling. Bit of dark fruit in there also. Rich and roasty with lots more coffee flavor. No as much as I expected though which is good because I think that too much coffee in a beer just overpowers everything else and detracts from the overall flavor. More dark fruit and sweet caramel malts. Creamy smooth texture. Finish is sweet and smooth and malty with only a lingering hint of coffee. This is the way I like my coffee beers. Just a light touch. Fanastic balance in this brew. Was not real hopeful in the begining but this brew came through big time in the end.
