(Bottle) Via trade with Ughsmash. Sampled at Ciderwinder 4. Pours a thin, yellow dissipated head with an opaque body. Nose of molasses, vanilla, marshmellow, whiskey and coffee. A tad thin in texture, good mid-palate of coffee. A bit weak but well pronounced in the coffee realm. Thanks Jason!

Bottle into stemmed glass. Purchased at Discount Liquor, Milwaukee. Pretty durn good. I usually don’t like oatmeal as an ingredient, but its musty funk is counterbalanced here by the "imperial" and coffee aspects, which are easily discernable. The oatmeal comes out first in the aroma a bit, which also belies the chocolate. The oatmeal helps warm the usually cold slab of chocolate sweetness in imperial porters. The feel is a bit watery near the finish. It’s a good bundle of flavors, but it didn’t overly impress.

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=2 target=blank>CaptainCougar, thanks Tom!) Grassy as heck...Pours very dark brown with surprisingly very little head. Aroma of fresh roasted coffee and some dark sweet chocolate. Mouthfeel kind of loose and thinnish, lightly fizzy, very lightly oily (not the oatmeal silkiness as described on label). Flavor is, whoa!, very grassy upfront and straight through finish. Once I got past the grassiness there was fairly nice bitter coffee roast flavor but nothing really exceptional. Very little complexity. Bitter lingering coffee aftertaste. Not too good.

Very raw beany nose jumps out of the glass. Dark brown, somewhat hazy. The aroma also shows pungent dark chocolate and cookie dough sweetness. Flavour is sweet, with abundant somewhat harsh coffee that is rather abrasive on the tongue. The big malts provide a certain cushion for the harsh, unpleasant vegetal roastiness.

12 oz bottle from Milwaukee. Black opaque color with no head when poured but when swirled picks up a med. brown head that fades to small off-white. Aroma of pure coffee with a little chocolate and roasted malt. That same strong flavor is in the flavor with sweet malt, alc, some dark cherries, roasted but very sweet malt. Med to light body, with no carb and creamy. Very sweet and underwhelming. Overall sweet caramel coffee that is very drinkable.

Pours like coffee, smells like coffee--enough that it woke me up after a hard day! Oil black with a thick but dissipating tan head. Thick and full-bodied on the tongue with a coffee bitterness. Coffee flavor almost (but not quite) overwhelms oatmeal flavors. This is thick and creamy and delicious. The finish is very smooth. Porters don’t get much better than this!

Bottle thanks to the special Ross. And by special, I mean retarded. Pours an oil black with frothy brown head. Aroma is packed full of dry roast coffee and burnt malts. Medium-full bodied with a fine carbonation and a smooth velvety texture. Flavor of coffee, dark unsweetened bakers chocolate, and oats.Sweetness is restrained here. Mid palate has a moderate bitterness, along with some woody notes. Finish is semi dry and slightly astringent. A peppery bitterness lingers. Nicely done.
