Thanks to Stine for providing this one through a trade. Who is brewing a pot of coffee? Oh wait, that’s just this beer being opened. Body is dark brown, with a creamy brown head. Nose is all coffee, with maybe some chocolate seeping through, but it’s tough to pull it out. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, malt. Medium to light bodied. Creamy mouthfeel. Smooth finish, sweet with some roasted cocoa notes coming through. If you like coffee, this is your beer. Very well done.

Thanks to Ughsmash and pantanap who each sent me a bottle. Pours deep brown with a small head. Fair lacing. Huge coffee aroma with some sweet caramel malt. Nicely bitter coffee taste. Medium to full body. Somewhat creamy texture. Nicely done.

Courtesy moejuck. Pours pitch black with a light brown head. The aroma is monster coffee and chocolate. Cant say much else about it because thats what it is. The taste is smoother than I thought, obviously big coffee and some chocolate and malts. Nice full body, with a slick, oily mouthfeel. Very nice chocolate, especially in the finish. I think there is more coffee in the nose than in the taste, which was a bit of a surprise and I’m glad it had more chocolate in the taste. Good brew.

12oz. Bottle $8.99 4-Pack Steve’s Liquor Madison The Devil Made Me Do It poured a black hole into my snifter. This beer does not let one bit of light shine through. I think it’s actually making the room darker. A 1 finger tan head formed and quickly fell to a thick ring of head with a floating island of chunk. Leaves chunky lacing after each sip. This is one of those beers that looks like it’ll be packed with flavor. This beer smells great. Mounds of the finest freshly ground coffee beans greet the nose. Roasted malts are there along with a shot of cream and 2 cubes of sugar. Smells like a quality freshly brewed cup of coffee. Again, a freshly brewed cup of coffee as soon as this beer hits the tongue. Mild vanilla and cream add a nice sweetness that accompanies the coffee perfectly. Moderate coffee bitterness on the swallow that’s always welcome. Creamy mouthfeel from the addition of oatmeal. Actually has a little prickliness in there that awakens the tongue and really lets the flavors take hold. This is a highly drinkable beer. I can see myself drinking this anytime of the day whether it’s with breakfast or after dinner. Tyranena makes some great beers and this is no exception. A porter that’s missing the porter aspect and filled with roasty delicious coffee. 5/12/07

Bottle courtesy of Moejuck: Poured a deep black color porter with a small foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry coffee is dominating but not in an exceeding way which sometime render coffee flavoured beer a bit gross. Taste of medium roasted malt with subtle bitter notes with some coffee which brings dry notes. I would have preferred a bit more chocolate notes and maybe a touch of sweetness to balance the dryness of the coffee but this beer is still very enjoyable. Full body with some light carbonation which fits the style.

Nice aromas. The oatmeal smoothness comes through. The taste is grainy with some oatmeal and coffee of course. Some bittersweet chocolate as well. Sweetness on the backside. I really enjoyed this one. Has the subtlety, flavors, and textures I love in a dark beer.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small diminishing light-brown head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, roasted coffee, chocolate and oats. Flavour’s like coffee on ice, I love it! Goes down smooth. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. An excellent Porter.

Dense black with a smallish capping of sandy browned foam on top. Lace fills in the glass surface nicely with big gobby strings and things. Morning nose of sweet roasted espresso-like coffee and oatmeal waffles; some black malt, burnt chocolate cookies, and a tiny bit of peppery spice. Very attractive nose to this one. Taste is refined within a terrific draw of pale black malt sweetness, whole grain cereal, and a lot of chocolate enduced coffee roastedness right upfront; then spent milk rounds off with a creamy center, and a lovely little hop note spicing up the back end with leftover returns of coffee and chocolate. The bitterness is perfectly fitting within the roasted character all the way through, which makes this one heavenly yummy treat and a great drinker. Nice mix of chocolate and coffee parts. Body is mediumish to full with an extended creamyness that plays well with what roasted and bitter notes tend to keep on sticking on the palate. Chocolate milk spikes with a nice rounded coffee really takes the whole thing and puts it together once its sat a while. Which isn’t long, cuz this stuff is a real treat to behold and drink down. Solid stuff by Tyranena. Nice to see they do something other then the yummy IPA’s they do.
