| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown/black in color with a small tan head. The aroma is fine coffee, dark chocolate, roasted, with a touch of sweetness. The flavor is more strong coffee, dark chocolate, oatmeal sweetness, roasted, with a dry finish. Medium bodied at best; actually it could stand a bit more thickness. This is still a very solid imperial porter. LilBeerDoctor (1505), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with hardly any head. Aroma of coffee of course and some sweet malt and molasses. Flavor is quite loaded with coffee with some sweet oatmel. Palate is a little thin, I think a coffee imperial porter needs to be a bit more robust. I preferred Devil over a barrel over this original version. It was certainly good, but not as great as I had expected.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2009 Lovely coffé smelling thing, mild hops in the nose, mostly just good coffé really with subtile chocolate aromas. Mouthfeel is extremely slick but a bit too thin, flavour is a bit too thin aswell but pretty tasty with smooth coffé and chocolate. Light chocolatey aftertaste. surffisher (196), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours black with little fizz and just a ring of dense fine head. Aroma of coffee and lactose/slightly sour milk and some subtle fruity and bourbony notes. Sweetened coffee flavor with plenty a dry, roasty finish. Silky smooth with a low but tight and prickly carbonation. Really nice beer overall - in the top tier of overtly coffee oriented styles. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Hmmm…that sounds like a Stout! Lots of fresh coffee and roast in the aroma. Black with a small dark tan head. Big fresh coffee flavor with roast and some chocolate behind. Full creamy mouthfeel. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with coffee and roast lingering. Excellent! robertjm (406), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 27, 2009 (Trade from Pantatrap) At first poured no head into glass, but it did finally raise about 3/4 cm. Lots of bubbles coat the side of the glass. Dark black/brown body with no light penetration. Very robust aroma of chocolate and black malts. Coffee clearly comes out in the flavor. Thick body. Definately falls closer to the porter end of the spectrum than stout. Would be on my list of beers I go back to if it were available in the SF Bay Area. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 21, 2009 (Bottle courtesy of Headbanger) - Color is a solid black with a tight tan head. Aroma is deep with a dry roasted coffee scent. Taste is smooth, rich and roasted. Starting with a bold medium body it goes down with a creamy feel. Finish is a big bold roasted coffee flavor with a faintly sweet chocolate taste to it. After taste is dry with the coffee lingering on. This is a kick ass Porter with big coffee flavors.
