Glouglouburp (1915), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 16, 2008 In short: Big vegetal and spicy mess of some kind. Weird and Gross
How: Tap at Pivovarsky Klub, Prague
The look: Cloudy copper body with a medium beige head
In long: Aroma of dogfood. Basic crushed cereals with out-of-control unapropriate impression of herbal cooking spininess (basil type of herbal spices). Green tea and other off-flavours I could have really done without. Lots of prunes and asparagus. What a mess! The only more disagreeable 16° I have ever experienced was in Fahrenheit, on a beach, and wearing only a tight speedo swimming suit. (Rating #1522) MartinT (4307), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 24, 2008 My Bottom Line:
An intense medicinal plum fruitiness is certain to grab your attention as it takes you from tangy tartness to sweet vinosity in this relatively cohesive but strange Fruit Beer.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy red.
-The medecinal personality of the plums is even spicy, as it drives in its caramel-like sweetness.
-Some bitterness followis the tart passerby.
-I’ve never had anything close to this in the beer world, so it’s quite difficult to grasp its essence. Its well structured and characterful, but man is it weird!
On tap at Pivovarsky Klub. Quack-Duck (1698), Bodensee, Germany Mar 21, 2008 draught at the brewpub. This is a 16° plum beer. Slightly reddish appearance, enourmously large head. Aroma of plums. Medium-bodied, not sweet but tasting of plums, quite hoppy and dry. Not very malty, I thought the beer was a bit thin for a 16°, nevertheless a tasty and interesting brew.
