Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

great bottle, red brown colored pour, aroma of strong malts, flavor is malty with a big floral, perfumed note on a dry bitter finish

Pours a muddy reddish brown with little to no head. Aroma is sweet malt and alcohol, but mostly malt. This is such a malt heavy sweet complex beer, the first sip literally made me say ’’woo!’’ This beer is all about the malt and it does malt very well. Sweet and bready, with a twinge of bitter backend and a nice alcohol bite. This was a really nice beer.

Pours a very dark ruby brown in color with no head forming on the pour. Another beer in ’’Clean out the designated beer fridge ’08.’’ Smell is very toffee like with a shit ton of caramel malts. Taste is even more of the toffee and caramel malts. Make no mistake this is a dark, smooth beer. Very well done. This is something that I could drink a whole bunch of. Very nice.

Pours a very dark brown body and is nearly opaque. Prunes, brown sugar, pecans and cinnamon mingle in the aroma. The flavor is nicely malty, but falls a bit flat of the aroma’s promise. Tasty beer, though.

Poured from awesome swingtop bottle into a cylinder glass. Dark sepia color, very hazy and opaque. Two fingers of creamy tan head, good retention and decent lacing. Aroma is earthy cocoa and dried dark fruit. Slight metallic twang, probably from the heaviness of the water used. Caky brown malt and figs make up a sweetness that washes over the front of the palate. Then a very earthy hop bitterness tears right through the flavor profile. The bitterness lingers and melds with the slight metallic note from the aroma. Mouthfeel is pretty good, carbonation is appropriate, body is medium-full without a trace of wateriness, no trace of alcohol. A nice, well-balanced, thick, tasty German beer.

(Bottle). Aroma is grassy and herbal, and also alcohol. Color a beautiful mahogany, with a large creamy tan head. Flavor is sweet, licorice and caramel, notes of bitterness and alcohol. Well-brewed, but the flavor is not altogether pleasant.

Damn this is good beer. Smells sweet, hints of plum. Pours dark reddish brown with a thin head. Medium hop flavor with undlying sweetness. Finishes up with a sour note which balances it out nicely. Full body, leaves a stickiness behind. Amazing beer, each taste presents something new. Very complex.

Dark cherry red pour with a fluffy khaki head. Sweet and malty aroma - overripe fruit: plum, date, fig, cherry, apple. Some alcohol in the background. Slightly toasty and nutty, some cinnamon and vanilla way in the back. Flavor gives way to much less sweetness and much more hoppiness than I ever expected from the aroma. Interesting and complex, with big caramel malts and a little bit of chocolate. Silky in the mouth, with an oily residue. I bought this after looking through beer-buddy Zeswaft’s higher ratings - thanks for the indirect recommendation.
