33cl bottle, a very interesting flip top bottle- pours with a light carbonation, swamp water hazy brown, very slight head/lacing. Very ripe dark fruit/ prune aroma, smells candy sweet. Taste is ripe dark fruits/ prune/ dried fruit, slightest hop presence, trace of molasses, thick malt body. Alcohol stays hidden.This beer needs a food pairing to keep the palate from being tired of it all.

bottle.. dark ruby pour ,thin tan head.aroma of dark fruit ,annis molasses.and nuts. flavor is a complex mix of figs, molasses,licorice and burnt sugar. medium bodied finishes dry and a little bitter ,slick and delicious.

This is particularly good. The aroma is very sweet, with hints of dark malt, molasses, and light floral notes. The color is a nice deep brown with a good white head. The taste is particularly the best part, a huge bouquet of flavors emerges, of course the beer has a big malty flavor with bits of licorice, dried fruit, and sticky roasted malt. But the dryness and the bitterness are what make this beer amazing, this beer has a lot of hop flavoring, it’s no hopbomb but the spicy bitterness of the hops dominates much of the tongue with this beer. While an alcohol sting is present, this beer remains very smooth and easy to drink. I will be buying this again.

(GERMAN) Pours a hazy amber color with fizzy white head. There is a malty, alcohol aroma with a zesty mouthfeel. The taste is of dark fruit, molasses, and caramel. And the finish is super dry and by far one of the most bitter beers i’ve tasted !!!! This was more then i expected, a pleasant suprise. One other thing the bottle is very unique. Do yourself a favor and get some !!!! :)

J. Betski’s Raleigh, NC 5/16/08. Cool F-in bottle with an even cooler glass. Deep brown color with ruby hues. Soda poppy head and carbonation, aroma of toasted malt and honey. Flavors of dark fruit, licorice and a good sweet-bitter balance, all of these flavors helped to mask the alc. burn until the aftertaste. I want a case of these.

App.: Dark ruby-copper, tiny light tan head. Aroma: Huge dripping gobs of raisins and figs, molasses and licorice, minty herbals, light wood, nuts and alcohol. Palate: Medium-full body, soft carbonation, somewhat oily. Flav.: Lots of raisins, burnt sugar, dark molasses, minty herbals, licorice, lightly salty; somewhat sweet and quite bitter, leaves a vinous, fruity, licorice-like aftertaste with good duration.

Huge beer, small bottle.

A cold pour produces a slow rising frothy head that reaches its peak at three fingers then sits there like a stubborn muledeer. Lacing is lasting, sticky, and fluffy. Aromas of sweet malted butter and darkfruit. A dark nut brown color emerges. Full nectar with good carbonation that thickens up like heavy cream on the palate. Sweet upfront turning bitter on a dime. Flavors of plumb, nectarine, maple, strict peachpit bittering. Finishes dry with lingering flavors.

Cloudy, near opaque brown pour with a thin off-white head. Malty, bready nose with a hop undercurrent. Flavor is rich and very much like a barley wine: alcohol and malt with a fruity sweetness that is slightly overshadowed by the hoppiness. It’s an interesting balance with caramel and roasted malts competing with an earthy hallertau hop thing. Very nice.
