Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

Excellent doppelbock style. Beer was rich dark and roasty. Flavors of caramel, roasted malt, and tofee were smooth. Acquired at a local beer restaurant.

bottled 04/18... not sure what that means. rich hazy amber/brown color with a small khaki head that leaves light spotty lacing. smells like raisins and skunky hops mixed with sweet malt, molasses, wood and grass. it tastes like regular ovaltine... chocolate, vanilla, raisins and sweet grains. a nice dry bitter grassiness offsets the sweet (but not cloying) palate. aftertaste is of grassy and skunky hops. medium to full body with soft carbonation and a slick smooth texture. 7/4/8/4/16/3.9

on tap at papago... ruby tinted brown shade of black with a huge puffy off white head. additional aromas of fresh cherries and maple syrup added to the prior review. lots of spice and a hint of alcohol creep in on the palate as it warms. any sugar previously tasted from the bottle is no issue and really nowhere. roasty bitterness and fresh hoppy dryness really clean it up nicely. full rich body with a luscious creamy mouth feel...8/4.5/8/4.5/17/4.25

Bottled. Medium ruby in color. Spiced dark fruit aroma. Dry and yeasty flavored with a bit of raisin. Dark and fruity rule the day in this beer.

Pours a cloudy brown almost cocoa color with a thin beige head. Week aroma that is malty with some hops. A little watered down for my taste. ABV well hidden with a nice balance of maltiness and hops.

Dirt brown pour with a nice light simple head. Smell is subtle and malty and a hint smokyish. Taste is caramel and spiced. Thin average palate. A hint watery. Reminds me of a dopplebock or perhaps watered down scotch. Hmmmm.

bottle shared courtesy of JohnathanL. Thanks!
Pours a light muddy brown color with light head. Smell is thin and caramel like malt mostly. Taste is toasty, creamy caramel, with a tart edge to it, in the way an Oktoberfest might be. Somewhat thin, but smooth. Very drinkable but didn’t stand out too much. Still enjoyable.

Bottle. Poured an opaque brown with a moderate off-white head, good lacing. Sweet raisin full malt aroma. Vry malt, sweet with litle roast character, fruity. Linginer bitter sweet taste, medium bodied.
