Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

Red chestnut body with a huge thick beige head; Warm deep serious nose with lots of hidden treasures, green fresh touch way back; Big full serious body, balanced, complex moving into a long interesting finish with soft full and sharp deep notes. Great beer!

Aroma is touches of cocoa, nutty, and bock-ish with malty/grainy element and a touch of hops. Taste has hints of hops and is bittersweet with a grainy and dull copper essence to it. I like this.

11.2 oz bottle with swing top, 05/07. Pours a dark ruby with 2 cm off-white head that is mostly diminishing. Aroma is full of dark fruits, mostly raisins. Flavor is well balanced with dark fruits, maybe more dates now, and bitter hops and some citrus. Medium body, no carbonation, very light lacing, some alcohol noted as it warms. Nice beer and drinkable.

Wow, I was warned this was going to be a super alt and it certainly is. Pours reddish black with a thin white head. Aroma is heavy caramel malt, molasses, and roasted malt. aroma is just overpowering. Doppelbock aroma on steroids. Thick malt taste with caramel malt, roasted malt, and molasses. Thick powerful and different, thanks to Solan for suggesting it.

[942-20071207] 11.2floz. Sweet boozy malt aroma. Clear, dark brown red body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Dark malty booze flavour has nice rich raisin characteristics. Medium-full body. Good.

Beautiful sweet aroma, strong carmel malt notes. Taste is sweet but balanced with a lingering hoppy bitterness. Notes of toffee, chocolate, and burnt sugar, with herbal hops. Very complex flavor but perhaps a little more bitter than I would prefer. Overall quite good.

11.2 oz bottle. 06/04. Murky brown with a puffy beige head. Nose of toasty caramel and cola, bready underneath. Medium body with a sharp carb tang. Taste is burnt caramel and orange peel, grassy, then gin and grapefruit. Lingering sweetness, light drying. Even after 3-1/2 years this stuff is kick ass.

A 11.2 oz bottle with a bottled on date stamped on the lable. The beer poured a dark rube body with a small head that disapates quickley. Smell of roasted malts and strong hops. A coffee and toffee. A coating mouth feel and good carbonation, no lacing to speak of. Single Beer!
