Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

Dark brown poured a thin white head you can tase the alcohol on this one almost like a malt wisky (might grab another one and let it age )

Large tan head, medium amber hue. Aroma is predominantly sweet caramel and raisins with just a hint of dough. Flavor is initially bitter then more sweet. Medium mouthfeel and a bit of warming in the finish.

Bottle, Uber Taven. Foggy brown mud color, with a thin white head. Aroma is caramel, light alcohol, raisin. Taste is light alcohol, dried fruit, chocolate, old coffee, slight nutty character.

Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a dark brown color beer with a huge foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of chocolate and dry raisins is enjoyable but definitely not what I was expecting. Taste is comprised of sweet malt with some nice notes of chocolates and dry fruits with a somewhat dry finish. Well done overall but definitely not what I was expecting for and Alt but again it is style that I don’t really know too well..

bottle via trade with dragonstout. Thanks for the bonus. Pours an odd light brown with a stable firm 2 finger off white head. The nose is sweet and strong. This is very malty and sweeter than I had expected. I don’t know if I would go as far as the commercial description and push this into the realm of German barleywine, but it is certainly more complex and bigger in taste than average German fair.

Poured murky pond water which subsided into a nice dark ruby red color with an off white head. Aroma of cherries and alcohol. Taste of sweet malt, light hops, and fruit with an alcohol burn finish. You can taste every bit of the 8.5% alcohol. Very different and not my type of brew.

330 at the Seattle International Beerfest. Pours deep murky brown with dense moussy tan head. Big roasty leafy nose. Bold attack--big body, firm carb, aggressive flavors. Deep earth and roast and wet leaves, clingy, burny finish. Wonderful stuff.
