Uerige Doppel Sticke

now this is a beer. Glorious dark ruby color with a frothy white head. Aroma is very malty, caramelly. Flavor is very rich and thick. Glorious malt flavors, not sure what beers I’ve had that are as malty as this. Some dark fruit flavors, too. It’s almost a barleywine without hops and without the nasty alcohol sting. Thus, the bitterness is not as pronounced as the uerige alt, but there is still some bitterness on the finish. If I could only find the Sticke I think it wouldbe the right balance of flavor without all the alcohol a la Goldilocks and the three bears. Afterthought, wow this bastard has 75 ibu’s, but it’s blended well with the malt.

Nice hop aroma upfront, sligh citrus fades, with touchs of dark fruit. Palate is full bodied alcohol is hardly noticable. Nice winter-time drink though I prefer my barley-wines with a bit mor umph.

has a sweet beer-like aroma. No kidding. Really does. This beer is slightly on the bitter side, but not excessively so. Has a pleasant bitter-sweetness that is easy to sip and encourages a responsible and proper alcohol delivery pace.

Prettily designed flip-top bottle (with many, many thanks to MoritzF !) : Amber coloured, firm creamy off-white head; cinnamon, liquorice in the sweet-fruity nose with hoppy edges - almost a perfest english aroma...; strong bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; lingering bitter-sweet and fruity (a bit like cough syrup) finish. A great winter-warmer......und lecker, aber kein Dröppke !

Orange-brown with thick white froth. Aroma of tons of malt, dark fruit, and spices. Taste is similar, with a bit of citrus, some brown sugary/molasses sweetness and slight bitterness at the end. Lighter than expected, well hidden alcohol and nice finish.

Pours dark brown / garnet with a good sized light tan rocky head. The aroma is effervescent and fruity, fairly sharp, sweet malt and white grape - not at all what I was expecting. Medium body with light soft carbonation. The taste starts sharp, sweet, woody and traces of honey - quite cloying. The alcohol is very noticable. The finish has even more alcohol presence and lots of woody flavors. This is interesting, but certainly not as good as I hoped for.

Creamy 1.5 finger tan head atop a dark brown pour. Great lacing. Wonderfully complex aroma. Malty toasty sweetnees mixed with hoppy floral notes. Medium bodied mouth feel. Perfectly carbonated. Toasty caramel sweet taste with a pleasing crisp bitter aferbite. An excellent beer.

much much better than the ’alt’ pretty much what everyone else here has for a description... i was pleasantly surprised..
