Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted caramel malt and tart fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet fruity flavor with a medium sweetbitter finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

Nice hayloft sweet molasses. semitranslucent cherry brown. Very sweet, big fat malt mix, raisins and dark fruit. a little hoppy syrup finish. interesting, unique, funk from an old vat, full of flavor, loaded, warming.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours brown with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, alcohol, and roast. The flavor is bitter, caramel, citrus. Great beer.

Thanks to Immy. From swing top bottle, pours a dark copper with tan head. Nose is like sticking your head into a bag of grain, very nice, but unrefined. Flavor is more of the same with a little sweetness. Palate is smooth.

11.2 oz swing top. Coppery pour. This one is all about the malt - the nose and flavor is sweet, sticky malt syrup. Caramel, some light fruit and grassy hops all take a back seat. I like!

Orangey amber in color with particulate matter floating throughout and a tan head that darkens and becomes brighter at the edges. Aroma has a ton of malt fruit and even maple notes that are reminiscent of the new incarnation of Hardy’s Royal Oak Pale Ale. The sweet, burnt caramel aroma also reminds me of Young’s Old Nick with a few years of bottle age. Flavor is very nice. Still almost syrupy on the palate but it is balanced by quite a massive bitterness and roasted malt. The caramel malt flavor has milk overtones to it and there is a lot of fresh, floral, green hop flavor throughout and into the long finish.

Dark brown hue with a tint of red – nice tan head, small bubbles – nose caramel , red fruit ( cherries and raspberries ) and subtle oats – caramel , cereal , cane sugar, yeast, and honey taste – raw grainy palate - aftertaste brown sugar , cereal , honey , and salty

Swing-top from State Line. Aroma is strong, caramel and roast malt with sticky sweetness, hefty dose of hops. Slight doughy/ bready character. Pours a ruby copper with a light brown head, medium-to-strong carbonation. Slightly hazy with lace AND legs. A heavy bitter taste, a real powerhouse, lasting. Some stickiness, a light touch of bock. Great choice for hop lovers. Roast malt and caramel. Coating feel, medium+ body. Sticky bitter finish and a strong dryness from start to finish. Lovely, heavy hoppiness. Noticeably different than the regular Uerige…overall, I’d much rather drink their regular Alt on a regular basis, though this gem isn’t bad for occasional enjoyment. ;)
