Pours a light amber brown with a tree barkish color that is see-through. Very small white head that hugs the immediately. Aroma is heavy of carmalized malt, hints of alcohol, plums, and other fruit. Smells a lot like a barleywine. Flavor brings to the palate much of the nose, but on a lighter level. Tastes of sweet malt, plum, maple syrup, and tiny notes of citrus and hops. Has a very light barleywine style taste to it. Does not linger all that long. Definitely something I would drink many times again. Aggie80 (709), Michigan, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 30, 2006 Poured a clear mahogony with a thin white head that faded quickly. Aroma is very pleasant, sweet crystal malts and an herbal hop character blend nicely. Flavor is interesteing, It starts out with a root vegtable taste than quickly floes into sweet caramel malts with spicy, and very herbal hops. The strength of the hop flavor is reminiscent of American style barleywines but this one has the destinctive German hop taste. A full bodied sweetness combats the hop bitterness for the finish and lingers in the mouth for a long time. Definately unique. rederic (1815), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 5, 2006 11 oz bottle-pours a big creamy tan head with bronze/red color. Aroma is apple, cherry, malt, dark caramel. Taste is sweet, an effervescent tingling on the lips/tongue, medium malt, alcohol, background hops, dark fruit. First ½ seems like a good occasional beer, 2nd ½ mellows a bit, nicer. eaglefan538 (2399), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2006 Updated: Aug 6, 2006Poured with a decent initial head that turned to a thin covering and minor lacing. The aroma was malty (caramel) with a slight burnt touch. Light hopping was also detectable. The flavor was surprisingly rich, with a somewhat sweet malty base (caramel malts indeed) under a strong hops presence. The alcohol didn’t hide much better than the hops (but wasn’t offensive) and this one was somewhat like an Imp. IPA / hoppy barleywine. Mouthfeel was thick and creamy. August ’06 update: only brewed once for the US market, unable to order on site in Uerige, although they do display the bottle behind one of the bars.
