Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

Knightly Spirits, Orlando, Fl. 11.5 oz popper-stop bottle. Dark brown pour with a thin, light, off-white bubbly head. Sweet, intoxicating aroma with hints of rum, raisins and molasses. Very reminiscent of many a German Dopplebock. Flavor has some raisins, molasses, chocolate. Afraid that it might turn cloying near the end - but stays true and strong to the finish. Alcohol is noticed - but not distracting. Very thick mouthfeel - chewy. Overall, excellent.

Small offwhite head, retention is good, creamy appearence with a nice stringy lace. Murky browness with a dark copper hue hidden in there. Nose is fruity, dark fruits, fig, raisin and a touch grainy, maybe some over ripe bananna notes as well. Body is medium, lightly creamy. Sweet malts, faint roast, dark fruits, caramel with chocolate notes and a light fruitiness in the medium sweet finish. 8.5%m HUH?

Cool friggin bottle. Pours a transparent brown color. small head. pungent aroma of roasted malts, and ripend fruits. flavor is sweet, starts malty, then some fruity (raisin, plum, pear etc.) flavors kick in. finishes with a sort of orange citrusy, hoppy kick. get better the more you drink. very nice layering of differant flavors. thick smooth mouthfeel. a great beer, very unique.

Bottle. Pours a very bubbly dark amber-brown with an average size lasting foamy off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, dark fruit and mild hops. Flavour -- wow, what a nice surprise! -- starts sweet with caramel malt and brown sugar followed by roasted malt and chocolate and finishes with a nice amount of hops. Medium to full bodied. I was not expecting this, it’s by far the best German beer I’ve had yet and probably the best Altbier I’ve had. Fantastic stuff!

A proprietary blend of hops and malts makes this the benchmark high-octane alt.DRY,smooth.What an alt should be. Warning:May be habit forming.

Not a hell of a lot of notes on this one apart from the rating. Dark red brown with a little head. Lots of grassy hops. Tastes a bit like a scotch ale (?).

Dark leather color. Cloudy with a large head foaming over. Sweet nose with a heafty dose of malt. Tastes like straight up grain feedbag. Sticks all over the mouth like a bunch of beer glue. Bitter chocolate.
