| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 8, 2009 sewage brown pour, devoid of carb. ultra nutty, malty aroma that mimics the color. flavor is chewy as is possible with the high ABV blending perfectly into sweet roasted nuts and sheets of melting bitter caramel. tangy grapes muddle with dark toffee. even with a bad seal (due to swiveltop no doubt) this is a potent and still enjoyable big beer. nickd717 (1394), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Bottle from Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, honey, dark fruits, and spice. Flavor is more of the same with figs, spiced rum, and mild roast. Body only medium, but palate is still fairly syrupy. It seems almost unfair to other beers in the style to classify this as an altbier since it’s so strong and intense. This should be called an "imperial altbier" or something. It’s really more like a doppelbock. Had this next to regular Uerige Sticke and it delivers a massive combination pimp smack/donkey punch upside the head of that more modest altbier. Flavor of rum cake, chocolate and ripe fruit. Palate was creamy, with rum alcohol still present. Delicious! Shakesbeere (64), Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 28, 2009 Aroma of alcoholic caramel and a slight amount of fig and dark fruit. Flavor: highly caramelized beer with a toasty character and a hint of fig. Palate is slightly syrupy initially, then tends toward moderate thickness. Finish is of fermented fruit. A good beer and reasonably well balanced. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2009 On tap at International Beer Garten (Lutz, FL). Pours a dark brown color with a minimal off-white head. Sweet, dried fruit aroma with hints of caramel malt. Flavor had a lot of molasses characteristics to it. Nice bitter aftertaste. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2009 04/06 bottle, consumed 09. Pours a deep brown, not much head. Aroma is rich and sweet, earthy but a little flat - probably due to age. Flavors are similar but pick up something more - there is lingering character here that I wish I could have tasted fresh.
