Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

Thanks Kevin! The beer pours to a hazy brown body with a light white head. Good lacing! The aroma is pretty strong with flaked barley aromas and with toasted tootsie roll-esque aroma and licorice and raisins. The flavor is not subtle. Lots malts. Black currants and sweet malts. Very in your face and tasty. The palate is medium full bodied and has a light powdered sugar. Almost syrupy but not sticky. Mmmm...

Thanks mom. Has a decent malty aroma. Cloudy brown color, with a whitish head. Nice kind of strong malty flavor, slightly bitter. Good body, with a little carbonation. Overall, pretty good. Nice bottle shape.

The aroma is very unique, my notes call it a "yeast bomb", but in the most positive way. I began to chant "Sticke BOMB!, Sticke BOMB!" in my mind based on the fragrance alone. Flavor of this altbier was hybrid of a barleywine, Belgian dubbel and an English old ale wrapped up in one. Sweet malts, and fruity yeast mix well with light bitterness. Highly recommended.

Bottle (330ml cool swing-top). My 800th rating. Poured slightly hazy dark copper with an average lasting off-white foamy-creamy head. Aroma of woody roast caramel malt, fruity yeast, slightly grainy and chocolatey, the alcohol is only hinted at - complex, on the sweet side, a little mild. Taste follows the nose, but fruitier (currants) with the alcohol much more prominent, lovely rich toasty malt, this is surprisingly bitter in its long finish. Mouthfeel is bitter, syrupy, thick yet very lively. All German? This reminds me of strong belgian ale, eisbock, even harvest ale - excellent.

33cl bottle. Highly intriguing aroma, rich, malty and fruity with suggestions of frosted spice cake, cinnamon, raisin, mild alcohol and toffee. Deep auburn in color with a fine, sparse head that leaves an intricate grid of lace behind. Flavor profile is very well balanced throughout, multiple aspects fading and reappearing, including sugary, sweet malts, caramel and light cocoa, licorice, cola, dark grains, baking spices, berryish and raisin fruitiness, faintly herbal hops and doughy yeast attributes coupled with mildly peppery alcohol. Rather unique and interesting. The mouthfeel is gently warming and smooth, body is fairly full. I would certainly give this several more tries if I had the opportunity.

Swingtop bottle. Deep chestnut colored beer, ruby highlights, and a larger tan head that lasted for ages. Great malty aroma, tea like, caramel, darker fruit, Flavor is dominated by the malts and thats not a bad thing at all. Plummy, with some molasses, dough, and some light bitterness on the end. Medium to full bodied and you’d never know this was 8.5%. Solid beer, I’ll drink again for sure.

Dark brown color with a thin off coloered head. Sweet and almost smokey aroma. Smooth first taste with a sweet caramel taste. Sweet finish and very tasty.
